The Grand Theft Auto Definitive Edition remasters just got a new shine

Rockstar Games has quietly rolled out a new update for the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition games on Tuesday, with a patch that more accurately restores elements of the original games. These improvements for the Definitive Edition versions of Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice cityAnd San Andreas however, are only available for current generation consoles and the PC releases.

But if you play Rockstar’s remastered versions of those early open-world crime sprees on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, or Xbox Series Patch notes from Rockstar For the November 12 update, details are scant, but players have discovered lighting tailored to the different cities and weather effects of San Andreas. There are also new ones fire and glass breaking effectsmore accurate street lighting and changes in swimming. In-game rain, a noticeable issue when the Definitive Edition versions were released in 2021, has also received a visual upgrade.

Changes from Tuesday to Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition contain updates made to the mobile versions of GTA3, Vice cityAnd San Andreas when they were released via Netflix. Players who haven’t touched the Definitive Edition versions since the collection’s troubled launch – or Rockstar’s quick attempts to fix the games – will notice that a lot has changed in the past three years. The mobile versions, developed by Video Games Deluxe, made improvements to the games’ water visuals, fog and draw distance, character models, textures, and collisions. Now (some) console and PC gamers can enjoy the fruits of that labor.
