Donald Trump Jr suggests his President-elect father will cut off aid to Ukraine with meme telling Zelensky ‘you’re 38 days from losing your allowance’
Donald Trump Jr. has shared a mocking video warning Volodymyr Zelensky that he will “lose his allowance” when his father returns to office, as fears grow in Ukraine over what a Trump presidency will mean for US support in the war against Russia.
This weekend saw the largest drone strikes by Russia and Ukraine since the start of the war, with the barrage hitting large parts of each country and downing hundreds of drones, including in the Moscow region.
Russian airstrikes killed at least six people in southern Ukraine today, with rockets hitting homes and putting most of the country under air raid as bombers hovered overhead.
The strikes have intensified amid expectations that Trump will pressure both sides to end the conflict, after the president-elect repeatedly said during his campaign that he could end the war “in one day,” without saying how.
Trump spoke to Vladimir Putin after his election victory last week and advised him not to escalate the war, a source familiar with the conversation said last night, as President Joe Biden is expected to urge Trump not to abandon Kiev .

The Republican and his supporters have roundly criticized the level of US military and financial support for Kiev, previously calling Zelensky “the biggest salesman on earth.”
The U.S. has provided roughly $106 billion in aid directly to the government in Kiev, an amount that includes military and financial assistance as well as humanitarian assistance, according to the Council on Foreign Relations.
On Saturday, Trump Jr. shared a meme showing a solemn-looking Zelensky standing next to Trump as dollar bills fell around him, with the text on the clip reading: “POV: You are 38 days away from losing your benefits.”
The clip was posted on Instagram by Sarah Palin, the former governor of Alaska, and refers to January 20, the day on which Trump returns to the White House as the 47th president.
Trump Jr. also said this weekend that there is no room for “war hawks” in his father’s administration.
The 46-year-old also played a key role in his father’s election campaign, championing the selection of JD Vance as his vice presidential choice.
Senator Vance told NBC last month that negotiations with Moscow are a “necessary part” of ending the war, and has outlined plans that would allow Russia to keep the territory it has taken in Ukraine.

Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Vance argued against the Biden administration’s provision of billions of dollars in aid to Kiev.
“I have to be honest, I don’t really care what happens one way or another with Ukraine,” Vance said at the time.
Trump and Vance will take office on January 20 after defeating Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz in the presidential election.
Biden has invited Trump to the Oval Office on Wednesday, the White House said, while US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said they will discuss Ukraine.
Zelensky last week praised an “excellent conversation” with Trump after his election victory last week, saying they had agreed to “maintain a close dialogue and promote our cooperation.”
“Strong and steadfast American leadership is vital for the world and for a just peace,” he added.

Both Kiev and Moscow have stepped up their offensives as the war continues. Ukraine today says Russia has suffered a record number of daily losses: 1,770 in the past 24 hours.
Ukrainian figures show that Russia has lost a total of 710,660 troops since the start of its large-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said.
Moscow nevertheless continues its “meat attacks” and has reportedly amassed a force of 50,000 soldiers, including North Korean troops, as it prepares for an attack aimed at regaining territory captured by Ukraine in the Kursk region.
Putin’s forces have gradually regained territory in Kursk in recent months, attacking Ukrainian positions with airstrikes and artillery, but so far they have not carried out a major ground attack.

According to Zelensky, Russia fired 145 drones into Ukraine from Saturday to Sunday, more than any previous nighttime attack during the conflict.
Russia also said it had shot down 34 Ukrainian drones targeting Moscow on Sunday, the largest attempted attack on the capital since the war began in 2022.
Five people were killed in the southern city of Mykolaiv, while a sixth died in Zaporizhia in an attack that authorities said injured more than a dozen, according to the regional governor.
“Five dead,” Mykolaiv Governor Vitaly Kim said on Telegram early Monday, increasing an earlier toll of four after an attack that set fire to several residential buildings.
About 200 miles (300 kilometers) east in Zaporizhia, Ukraine’s state emergency service said Russia carried out three airstrikes that killed one man and damaged several buildings.
Zaporizhia Governor Ivan Fedorov said 18 people were injured, including five children.
“Boys aged 4, 16 and 17 and girls aged 15 and 17 have received the necessary medical attention,” he said.
