Penn State fan sparks outrage from radio hosts after suggesting new career move for Tim Walz after election
A Penn State supporter drew an angry response from Philadelphia radio hosts after making a rude joke about Tim Walz.
Walz was the Democratic nominee for vice president, alongside presidential candidate Kamala Harris, but they were defeated in this week’s election by Donald Trump and JD Vance.
The Minnesota governor is a former teacher and football coach, and a Penn State supporter took to the airwaves to suggest he could replace current head coach James Franklin.
“Wouldn’t Tim be a cheaper option and bring tampons for the team?” they said.
Penn State was defeated by Ohio State last week and the fan decided to call into The Mike Missanelli Show, hosted by the Philadelphia radio journalist.

Radio host Mike Missanelli slammed the fan and accused them of ‘being a wise man**’
“I’m just a frustrated Penn State alum at this point…and I was wondering, if you’re the athletic director, do you have an abundance of resources, do you keep Franklin or do you go after a guy who is now unemployed, like Tim Walz?’ the fan started.
A perplexed Missanelli pointed out that Franklin — whose team is 7-1 this season — has a $60 million buyout in his contract.
“Tim Walz? They have no choice but to keep him,” the host said. “And they really like him … the administration is completely satisfied with the way he’s running the program.”
When the fan followed up on the tampon joke, Missanelli and his co-host vented their frustration.
“He’s just trying to be a smartass,” Missanelli said. “Why would you do something like that and waste our time?”
His co-host responded, “Why today? He’s been on hold for a long time… come on man, get well soon.’
