An American living in Sydney has revealed he was forced to take a ‘mental health day’ after recovering from Trump’s US election victory.

“I’ve decided to have a mental health day,” says a visibly sad one Mr. Wein told his social media followers the day after the US election was called in Trump’s favor.

‘I didn’t go to work. I didn’t really have it in me to talk politics in the office.’

He added: “I’m just going to chill today. Drink ice-cold lattes. Go for a walk, that’s all.’

Mr. Wein, born and raised in the key state of Pennsylvania, which Mr. Trump stole back from Democrats but was registered to vote in Texas because he last lived there, said he was “grateful” to live in Down. Below.

“But today is one of those days where I just want to be with my family and hug them,” he added.

“It amazes me that so many Americans support a convicted criminal and someone who just wants to take away the rights of millions.”

Mr Wein, who works in HR, said he was “terrified” about where his home country was headed as Republicans now controlled all three branches of government.

“Today I’m just thinking about all the women, transgender people, queer people, immigrants, and any marginalized community that will be negatively affected by the policy in the months and years to come,” he said.

“It’s so damn scary to think about it.”

When asked whether he would consider moving back to the US, Mr Wein was unequivocal.

“Ever since I moved to Australia a year ago I wanted to make it my forever home and never really had the desire to move back to the US,” he told Daily Mail Australia.

“(But) now that Trump is in power, there’s no chance you’ll find me in the US anytime soon.”

Mr Wein said he wanted to make a difference for his countrymen, despite living on the other side of the world.

“I’m going to join the group of Democrats abroad here in NSW,” he said.

“I’ve never been one to get involved in politics, but I won’t let this happen again.”
