Red Dead Redemption fan turns any horse into a rocket with a speed modifier
Some of my favorite moments with Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 It meant crossing the dusty plains with nothing but a friendly horse to carry me and a parcel full of goods. I listened to the soft tapping of my horse’s hooves and just enjoyed the atmosphere. Those quiet moments are wonderful, but what if there was a much more dangerous alternative? What if every time I left Dutch’s camp I was attacked by horse-shaped missiles and out-of-control carriages? This is a question that few gamers dare to ask, but it is truly a sight to behold.
Streamer blurbs has created a mod that makes βall chariots and horses travel at supersonic speeds. It’s a horror game now.β Blurbs posted a supercut of a few moments to his X account, and it’s truly terrifying. Are you trying to get into town? You’re breaking down. On the steppes? You are not safe; a carriage could rush past you at any moment. Navigating a busy urban center like St. Denis seems completely impossible. It’s chaotic and ridiculous, in the style of comedian Tom Walker’s playthrough of Grand Theft Auto 4 with an ultrafast mod enabled.
While Grand Theft Auto is potentially more dangerous, as the streets of Liberty City are narrow and full of cars, it seems like Red Dead Redemption’s austere historical setting could be just as risky. In a 12-minute video demonstrating the modification, Arthur is thrown into the air, crushed under hooves, launched across the plains and set on fire.
The entire video is reminiscent of the opening hours of a horse apocalypse movie. Passers-by crash into pillars, bodies are thrown into the air and the citizens of the West are in a constant state of fear and alarm. Personally, I would also be quite upset if my horse had the strength to hurl me halfway across town. There are also some wild physics mods that are activated by a rowboat, and Blurbs can send his poor victims into the air while flying in an infinite circle, powered by a broken rowboat.
This video contains some excellent antics, and while I cherish the serene moments of calm found in Red Dead, it’s quite fun to watch the rampant chaos unfold in Blurbs’ playthrough. Rockstar has built a big, beautiful world β one that is perhaps best enjoyed while taking a walk.
