College basketball coach offers bizarre explanation of how he broke his wrist

Seton Hall men’s basketball coach Shaheen Holloway reacted strangely when he appeared at a news conference with his wrist taped up after his team’s season-opening game.

Holloway was coaching an incredibly close game against the Saint Peter’s Peacocks – a team he managed – when he arrived at the presser with a shawl around his left hand.

“I think I broke my wrist at halftime,” Holloway told reporters.

When asked what happened to lead to the fracture in his hand, he simply replied, “Coaching stuff.”

Holloway, a former Seton Hall player, must have been furious with the results of the match, even though the Pirates ultimately came out on top.

Despite leading at the half, Seton Hall ultimately gave up its lead over St. Peter’s – a small school in Jersey City, New Jersey with fewer than 4,000 students, compared to Seton Hall, which has nearly 10,000 in the same state.

A flurry of errors from both teams kept the game exciting as the teams combined for 53 foul calls.

Fortunately for Holloway, Seton Hall won the game 57-53 to start their season 1-0.

Holloway had a successful playing career but rose to national prominence with Saint Peter’s in the 2022 NCAA Tournament.

Despite the size of the school, the 15-seed Peacocks managed to make it into the Elite Eight, becoming the first 15 seeds to do so.

They defeated second seed Kentucky in the opening game and then defeated seven seed Murray State to reach the Sweet 16.

There they defeated three-seed Purdue before ultimately falling to national runner-up North Carolina in the Elite Eight.
