Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi has revealed he has turned down offers to play in the Premier League ahead of his side’s Champions League match against Arsenal.

The Serie A champions welcome the Gunners to the San Siro on Wednesday evening as they look to extend Mikel Arteta’s winless run in all competitions.

Inzaghi has won plaudits for his work with the three-time European Cup champions, which followed a hugely impressive five-year spell in the Italian capital with Lazio. His work has impressed people in the Premier League and he has been linked with roles at Chelsea and Manchester United in recent years.

The Italian revealed he has turned down offers from England’s top flight but insisted he is still open to a job in the division.

‘It’s very interesting football, all the coaches like it. I don’t deny that there have been opportunities in recent years, even when I was at Lazio, but I was happy at Lazio and I am happy at Inter.

‘I like it (English football), it intrigues me, but I play for one of the best teams in Europe and I am happy here. But no one can have certainty about the future.’

Inzaghi’s most recent link to the Premier League came in recent weeks, as Man United considered sacking Erik ten hag after a dismal start to the season.

The Old Trafford club eventually pulled the plug and quickly installed Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim as their next boss.

During his time in Milan, Inzaghi has guided Inter to the Serie A title and two Coppa Italias, as well as the Champions League final in 2023, where they lost to Manchester City.

His side face a tough test in the league on Wednesday as Arsenal look to record their first win in four games. Inter and the Gunners are currently on seven points from their opening three games and Inzaghi expects it to be a tough battle.

He added: “We will have to try to keep the ball as much as possible. We know we are facing a team that will put us under a lot of attacking pressure. We know it will be a problem for us when they have the ball, but the opposite is also true.’

Arsenal will have to make do without Declan Rice, who did not travel to Milan with the selection. The English midfielder is said to have been left out of the Champions League match as a precaution.
