BLM chapter leader announces he’s voting for Trump: ‘We’ve been blindly loyal to Democrats’
A Black Lives Matter leader has revealed he is voting for Donald Trump after years of being ‘blindly loyal to the Democratic party’.
Mark Fisher, who lists himself as co-founder of Black Lives Matter Rhode Island, warned it would be a “disaster for the country” if Kamala Harris is elected.
“Historically, the Democratic party has been the party that black people overwhelmingly vote for, but we have gotten nothing in return,” Fisher told the newspaper. New York Post. “To me, that’s the definition of madness.”
He explained that his decision was due to his belief that “a lot of people did much better under Donald Trump” and his frustration with what he sees as a lack of progress among Democrats.
Fisher said that “after 60 years” the country’s “ghettos” still look as if “a bomb had been dropped on them,” while school and education systems are failing and crime is “horrendous.”

Over the past sixty years, Republicans have won eight elections, compared to Democrats’ six.
“I’ve been a Democrat all my life, I voted for Biden in 2020, which I now regret,” Fisher added. “I come from a family of Democrats. We have been blindly loyal to the Democratic party for so long, for no reason at all.
“They have given us no reason to remain so loyal to them. ‘
He contrasted this with Trump, who he said implemented “opportunity zones for the Black community,” including “investments in Black neighborhoods.”
“Anyone who feels like they are not being heard and is interested in conservative policies can look at Donald Trump and how can you not want to follow someone like that?” Visser asked.

However, Gary Dantzler, head of Black Lives Matter RI, disputed these claims, stating that Fisher only worked as an attorney.
“Mark Fisher stated that he was one of the co-founders of BLM,” Dantzler told the BBC Providence Journal.
‘Absolutely not. He was a respected advocate for BLM. That’s it. And he got paid and somewhere he got fired and demoted.”
Another separate civil rights group, the BLM RI Political Action Committee, also released a statement disavowing Fisher, saying he is “not and has never been affiliated with our organization.”
‘Mr Fisher’s views […] do not reflect the values or beliefs of BLM RI PAC,” the group said. ‘
We would like to highlight that Mark Fisher claims to be affiliated with Black Lives Matter Rhode Island, a non-profit organization. Any statements or actions attributed to him should not be conflated with our organization.”
While Fisher lists himself as a leader with BLM in Rhode Island, the two main BLM groups in the area have both distanced themselves from him.
Fisher previously expressed his admiration for Trump and received praise from the former president in return.
“Spoke with Mark Fisher yesterday, great guy, very honored by his and BLM’s support,” Trump wrote in a post on X.
