Comedian and TikTok star Kareem Rahma revealed that he was so disappointed with a “boring” interview he conducted with Kamala Harris that he ultimately decided not to publish the video.

And this is a man who was given gutter gold over the summer by Harris’s Midwestern running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

Rahma traveled to Pittsburgh to meet the vice president after her team said he could interview Harris for his online show Subway Takes, a series about New York City subway travelers who had an opinion on a specific topic.

But Rahma became wary of this possibility after he was told not to ask questions about Israel’s war in Gaza.

Despite the complications of organizing the interview topics, he ultimately went through with it.

Rahma revealed in the New York Times that there was a dispute with Harris and her team over the take she was willing to share.

Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris speaks during a campaign rally in Memorial Hall at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania,

He said staffers told him Harris would offer an idea on whether people should take off their shoes on planes.

But when he sat down with Harris, Rahma said she had a different idea.

“Bacon is a condiment,” she insisted.

As a Muslim, Rahma does not eat pork for religious reasons and was skeptical about her position.

“Think about it, it’s pure flavor,” Harris continued, talking about the various dishes that could be enhanced with bacon.

When Rahma requested a different version, Harris decided to declare her love for anchovies on pizza after consulting with a co-worker.

Ultimately, he admitted that the interview had gone so badly that he decided not to publish it.

“It was so complicated because I’m Muslim and there’s something going on in the world that 100 percent of Muslims care about,” he said. ‘And then they made it worse by talking about anchovies. Boring!’

Harris has previously revealed details on all three issues, so his interview would not have been groundbreaking if it had been published.

By contrast, Walz was still relatively unknown in August when Rahma deviated from his norm of interviewing his subjects on the New York subway to travel and meet him along the way.

Walz’s take couldn’t have been more Midwestern: gutters.

“My opinion is that the most neglected part of a home’s property is the gutters,” Walz told Rahma. “It’s personal to me.”

Harris’ belief that “Bacon is a condiment” is a view she flaunted in Iowa during the 2019 campaign.

Her opinion on people taking off shoes on planes is one she revealed in April with the Had It or Hit It podcast and details about her love of anchovy pizza were celebrated in July as part of what fueled her process to grab the nomination after former President Joe Biden announced his decision to resign.

The story illustrates a new window into Harris’ closely guarded access to the media, particularly the ongoing attempts to control the content of social media influencers with conditions on access.

After getting a glimpse of the bizarre political world, he expressed his gratitude for not dealing with the political media.

“I never wanted to be a political person,” he concluded. “The more I think about it, the more I feel like I’ve been lucky.”
