One-off £4.5m gold Rolls-Royce inspired by James Bond villain Goldfinger is bought by a fan
The £4.5 million one-off gold Rolls-Royce, inspired by Auric Goldfinger’s Phantom III, which featured in the 1964 film 007, has just sold.
The yellow and black two-tone Phantom, which comes with a gold golf putter, was sold to an English collector and Bond enthusiast.
And to make matters worse for anyone who has enough money to buy a similar one, Rolls has no plans to make another one.
The design of the car is loosely inspired by the car in the movie driven by Oddjob.
To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the classic 1964 James Bond spy film Goldfinger – starring Sean Connery in his third appearance as 007 – Rolls-Royce has created a new, one-off £4.5 million plus long wheelbase Phantom

The modern equivalent features umbrellas designed to match the ones that Oddjob, Auric Goldfinger’s driver, stashes in the car after Goldfinger finishes cheating during his round of golf against Bond.
The Rolls Royce has 21 inch black wheel discs with ‘floating’ silver hubcaps that always remain vertical. It even features real gold accessories.
Although Rolls-Royce declined to name the buyer, it did say they were involved in the project from an early stage.
Nick Rhodes, chief designer at Rolls-Royce’s Bespoke division, the Phantom Goldfinger has been in the making for three years, had previously said: ‘We have approached EON Productions, owner of the Phantom III from the film, with the intention of creating something special . mark the 60th anniversary of the film,” Nick said.
‘The original car was in Brussels, where we were able to examine it in detail.
‘However, we didn’t want to just make a copy. This Phantom is a modern interpretation.
‘The most challenging part of the project was the two-tone paintwork.
‘The vibrant yellow matched the 1937 Phantom exactly, with a contrasting black draped across the top of the car.
‘The 21-inch disc wheels are also finished in black, with silver ‘floating’ hubcaps that always remain vertical.’
