Deadly gang war fears explode after rising rapper Peezy is executed in suspected North Melbourne gangland hit

Fears of another bloody gang war on the streets of Melbourne have reached boiling point following the public execution of a young rapper.

Pal Bidong, who goes by the rap name ‘Peezy’, was shot in the head in front of witnesses on Saturday evening after attending a Halloween rave.

But now his murder has sparked speculation that the late rapper’s associates will take revenge on those they believe had something to do with their partner’s death.

Bidong’s body was found by members of the public on the footpath of Langford Street, in North Melbourne, at around 3.15am on Saturday.

The discovery immediately sparked an angry response in the middle of the night a violent fight breaks out in the street.

The incident has sparked tensions beyond the streets, with South Sudanese community leaders also targeting each other over the fallout from the tragedy.

Rising star lawyer and former chairman of the South Sudanese Community Association of Victoria, Kot Monoah, took to social media on Sunday to warn community members of impending reprisals.

“We have been credibly and reliably informed that there is a possibility of a revenge attack overnight or in the coming days,” he wrote.

“We have been briefed by leaders in the eastern suburbs to spread this message.

“Please tell the young people to stay home tonight and not move. Lock your doors and call Triple 000 for security.

“If your children’s homes are marked and known, look for alternative housing.”

The respected community leader has linked the bloody murder to an ‘East versus West’ gang.

Bidong had no known gang ties, and those who knew him said he was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

But social media posts from the late rapper show that he often posed next to masked men and made hand gestures traditionally associated with gang activity.

Daily Mail Australia can also reveal that Bidong has a number of upcoming court cases listed for hearing later this month.

They include charges of failing to answer bail, affray and breaching a community corrections order.

Scenes captured by television cameras after Bidong’s death showed wild scenes on the streets as dozens of locals took to the streets.

A 7News cameraman was also reportedly attacked when the young audience turned on the TV news crew.

But Pal Deng Pur, leader of Victoria’s Nuer community, has now hit back at claims a bloody war was imminent.

“We must come together in compassion and solidarity,” he said in response to Mr Monoah’s warning of an impending gang war.

“Unfortunately, in the wake of such a loss, we have seen false accusations and rumors suggesting that you would take revenge or retaliation instead of calling for calm as the leader of the South Sudanese community as a whole.

“We have leadership in Victoria that can oversee our affairs and they should be the right people to send out that statement.

“We want to make it clear that these allegations are baseless and only add to the pain for those who are grieving.

“Let us focus on offering our support and love to the family in their time of need, rather than allowing fear and division to take root.”

On Monday, a Victoria Police spokesperson said the shooter remained at large and the investigation was ongoing.

Detective Acting Inspector Alan Rumble of the Victoria Police Crime Command described the shooting as a ‘horrific incident’.

“It’s something that none of us want to experience, neither the police nor the local community,” Mr Rumble said.

“Our real aim here today is to ensure the victim’s family is supported at this terrible time, ensure the perpetrators are held to account and give the local community reassurance that Victoria Police is taking this seriously and that we are here to support them.

“We’re here to appeal for witnesses, we know there were a lot of people in the area at the time (and) we’re urging those witnesses to get in touch and contact police.”

Tributes continue to flow for Bidong, who was considered a rising rap star on the Melbourne scene.

‘I found out late last night that he had lost his life. I can’t believe it,” one person said.

“I love you my brother… Unique,” wrote another.
