Obama speechwriter reveals ‘the best thing’ Biden can do to help Harris’ campaign after president’s controversial comments about Trump supporters
Former Obama speechwriter Jon Favreau has said the best thing President Biden can do to help Kamala Harris win the election is to focus on his final months in office.
Jon Favreau was asked on CNN’s “The Lead with Jake Tapper” whether the gaffe-prone president was too much of a risk to go on the campaign trail.
Favreau, who served as White House director of speechwriting for four years, told the program: “If I were Joe Biden, his legacy is clearly at stake in this election.
“I would look at the numbers, look at the race and say I’m going to focus on the presidency.
“That’s probably the best thing he can do, not just for the Harris campaign, but for himself and his legacy.”

With the election looming, Harris and her Democratic allies went all out at the last minute in a frenzied campaign across the country.
Earlier this week, Biden did called MAGA supporters “trash” during a fundraising appeal in the middle of Harris’ closing speech outside the White House on Tuesday.
He had mentioned comments by comedian Tony Hinchliffe who called Puerto Rico a “floating island of trash” during the Trump rally at Madison Square Garden.
Biden said, “The only trash I see floating out there is his [Trump’s] followers. His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable and un-American.”
According to an Associated Press report, the White House had changed the official transcript of that phone call.
The transcript released by the White House press office changed the word supporters. It said ‘supporter’s’ instead of the plural ‘supporters’. The change, according to aides, corrects Biden’s statement and implies that he was only criticizing Hinchcliffe, and not the millions of Americans who voted for Trump.
With the election looming, Harris and her Democratic allies have been pulling out all the stops in a last-minute campaign campaign across the country.
The vice president flew to several swing states in a last-minute effort to grab crucial voters who could help her win one of the closest elections in history.

Biden, however, was kept away as the 81-year-old holed up Sunday at the exclusive Fieldstone Golf Club near his home in Wilmington, Delaware.
He didn’t play, but had lunch with his old friend and confidante, former Senator Ted Kauffman.
On Saturday, while campaigning in Pennsylvania, he raised eyebrows by portraying Trump and his MAGA friends as guys you’d like to kick in the ass**.
Biden left his schedule light so he could hit the road for Harris, but her campaign has not delivered. Instead, he set out alone.
Harris responded to Biden’s “garbage” comments less than 24 hours later, condemning negative comments about possible voters.
“First of all, he clarified his comments, but let me be clear: I strongly disagree with criticizing people based on who they vote for,” she told reporters.
