SNL fans rip into show for one-sided mockery of candidate ahead of election

Saturday Night Live has been labeled ‘cowardly and pathetic’ for its one-sided mockery of presidential candidate Trump just days before the election.

During the sketch comedy show’s “Weekend Update” segment, hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che took turns evaluating Trump’s recent appearances and comments ahead of election week.

The pair discussed topics including the Republican candidate’s Madison Square Garden rally, the photo of his garbage truck and Trump’s strange microphone interaction in Milwaukee on Friday.

The comedian’s comments infuriated MAGA fans, who insisted they were “anti-Trump” and “one-sided,” as Jost and Che only mentioned his opponent Kamala Harris — who made a surprise appearance on the show — a handful of times before they returned to him.

‘Comedians will ridicule both sides if they are one-sided [it] is just sad, cowardly and pathetic,” wrote X-user.

Another said, “Time to ignore SNL again. This entire segment was anti-Trump.”

Jost started the piece by saying that Americans will soon know who the next president will be, and whether the show will be “audited” or not.

“Well, next week America will decide if the next president is Kamala Harris, or if everyone at SNL will be audited,” he said as the audience laughed.

He then turned his attention to Trump’s actions this past week, where he targeted Harris and Biden during a press conference while sitting in a garbage truck on a tarmac in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Trump made the move in response to Biden calling MAGA supporters “trash” after comedian Tony Hinchcliffe called Puerto Rico a “floating island of trash” during the former president’s rally in the Big Apple last week.

The 45th president was seen wearing a neon orange and yellow safety vest as he boarded the garbage truck on Friday.

Jost joked about Trump’s outfit choice, saying he was “rescued after 30 days in a lifeboat.”

“And my favorite part was when he tried to open the truck door and it missed,” he added, as the viral clip played of Trump stumbling to get into the truck.

“Oh my God, he looks as drunk as I’m going to be on Tuesday night,” Jost added.

The bizarre moment sparked rumors among his critics, who insisted that Trump “seems to be really struggling physically.”

The SNL veteran then turned his attention to Trump’s controversial comments during a rally in Milwaukee Friday evening.

Trump later said at a rally that he would protect women “whether women like it or not.”

“For example, he is going to make everyone who poses a danger to women wear an orange vest,” Jost said.

As the segment continued, Jost made sure to comment on the bizarre moment Trump ripped a microphone off its stand before wrapping his mouth around it.

“And then Donald Trump complained about his microphone at a rally yesterday and it seemed like he was doing something very specific with it,” Jost said as the now-viral clip played.

His co-host Che went on to talk about Trump’s massive rally in New York City.

“Donald Trump held a rally at Madison Square Garden, and honestly, it was all white,” Che said.

“Speakers hurled insults at minority groups, used Nazi rhetoric and suggested Democrats should be slaughtered, but this lady has a funny laugh so I still can’t decide,” he added as an image of Harris appeared on the screen .

Che then spoke about Trump’s claim that he is “the opposite of a Nazi,” before saying that “opposites attract,” as an image of neo-Nazi Trump supporters riding in a boat flashed on the screen.

Jost then responded directly to last week’s “floating trash island” comment, saying he “took offense” to it.

“A comedian at Trump’s rally called Puerto Rico a ‘floating island of trash,’ and I take offense to that as someone who basically grew up on an actual island of trash,” the Staten Island resident said.

Che then wondered why Trump would want to be president, because he’s “like 80 years old,” has almost been killed twice and “his brains are in a mess.”

“But then I realize that if he doesn’t win this race, he could go to jail. Like literally. His conviction follows immediately after the elections. That’s why he’s blowing that microphone,” Che said.

“He’s trying to suck his way to freedom.”

Trump supporters quickly protested the show and strongly disagreed with the jokes.

“I thought SNL was going to be funny again. I was wrong. But keep your free public, I’m out!’, one person wrote.

‘Not funny. Wake up, went broke,” said another.

“@nbcsnl your political bias is showing,” one user said.

Meanwhile, others loved the comedian’s bit, as X user said: ‘MAGAs are going to hate this!’

“These guys are hilarious,” wrote another.

The comedians ended the recap with a few jokes about Harris and Biden, while referencing her closing argument and saying Biden was “stuck inside.”

They also referenced Biden’s strange encounters with babies at the White House Wednesday night for a Halloween event, when he was seen biting children.

“President Biden playfully bit a baby dressed as a chicken. And moments later, Commander finished the job,” Jost said, referring to Biden’s German Shepherd.

Just days before election night, Saturday Night Live didn’t hold back on political commentary and even invited Harris to join the cast.

Her appearance with Maya Rudolph, who Harris often portrays in sketches, sparked controversy as some thought it was similar to a skit Trump did in 2015.

Harris was seen in front of a mirror speaking to Rudolph, similar to Trump’s scene where he also spoke to himself through a mirror while Jimmy Fallon, dressed as the Republican, stared at him.

Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green quickly tweeted a message in all caps, wanting to draw attention to the fact that the comedy sketch reeked of desperation.

“HOLY SH*T Kamala Harris COPIED President Trump’s appearance on SNL. Can you believe it? This is what desperation looks like,” Green wrote.
