Saints star Chris Olave lies motionless on the turf after frightening collision in game against the Panthers
Saints star Chris Olave was rushed to hospital after being involved in a terrifying collision in New Orleans’ game against the Panthers on Sunday.
Players and coaches from both teams surrounded the receiver after he was caught between two defenders while trying to catch a pass from Derek Carr.
NFL RedZone declined to show a replay of the terrifying incident that saw Olave slam his head into defenders.
He then lay motionless on the turf for several seconds before a panicked teammate and official ran over to check on him.
After medics rushed to treat Olave, many Saints players dropped to one knee as officials from both teams stood over the receiver.
He was carried off the field on the cart and then taken to a hospital in Charlotte.
A few minutes later, the Saints confirmed he was out of the game, but New Orleans also provided an encouraging update on Olave’s condition.
“WR Chris Olave (concussion) is OUT for the remainder of the game,” a statement read.
“He has movement in all extremities and continues to be evaluated at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center.”
But Carr drew criticism over the incident, particularly from former Saints receiver Michael Thomas, who urged the team to dump the quarterback.
