Liverpool dealt huge injury blow as in-form Ibrahima Konate leaves the field in AGONY during clash with Brighton… with defender forced to use his shirt as a makeshift sling

Liverpool have been dealt another injury blow after Ibrahima Konate limped off at half-time against Brighton with an apparent arm problem.

The defender was assisted off the pitch by two members of the Reds’ medical team and was left in serious discomfort as he used his shirt as a makeshift sling.

Konate was given treatment as the players left the pitch at the break and gingerly climbed to their feet before staggering through the Anfield tunnel.

He did not return for the second half, with Joe Gomez, who underwent an intense warm-up during the break, taking his place.

The centre-back’s involvement came to an early end after he slipped and landed awkwardly while attempting to attack a Liverpool corner.

Footage showed him grimacing in pain and seemingly on the verge of tears as he was helped to the touchline, a major headache for head coach Arne Slot.

Slot is already without Alisson, Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa and the trio have all been ruled out of action until after the international break later this month.

Konate could now be a doubt for the Reds’ Champions League match against Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday and is expected to undergo scans.

Liverpool trailed at halftime after Ferdi Kadioglu’s opener after 14 minutes.
