Sunu Gonera, the co-creator and director of the upcoming TV series Parish, has been fired from the show after an investigation into sexual misconduct.
AMC Networks confirmed Gonera’s termination on Monday in a statement shared with Deadlinewriting that the Zimbabwe-born filmmaker was “immediately suspended and subsequently fired following an internal investigation.”
Sources speaking to the publication shared that the incident was an alleged assault that took place in “an off-set apartment outside of production hours” in New Orleans, where the show is currently being filmed, in late September.

AMC’s full statement read: “We recently became aware of some very serious allegations against a person working on this production, who was immediately suspended and subsequently fired following an internal investigation.”
The victim, allegedly an old employee of Gonera who did not work for AMC, has reported the matter to the police.
