- Lennox Lewis says Fury needs to ‘throw a lot more punches’ in rematch against Usyk
- Usyk became the undisputed heavyweight champion after their fight in May
- The pair will go toe-to-toe for the second time in Saudi Arabia on December 21
Lennox Lewis says Tyson Fury needs to ‘throw a lot more punches’ in the rematch with Oleksandr Usyk to have a chance of beating the Ukrainian.
Usyk became the first undisputed world heavyweight champion of the four-belt era by stripping Fury of his WBC title in their first fight in May.
The pair will meet for the second time in Saudi Arabia on December 21, with Fury looking to avenge the only loss of his professional career.
However, Lewis – who defeated Evander Holyfield in 1999 to become an undisputed heavyweight champion – says Fury needs to make several adjustments.
Lewis is confident the Gypsy King’s output will have a direct impact on the outcome of the fight, stating that Fury will need to throw a large number of punches.

Speaking about Fury’s approach to the fight during an interview with Boxing NewsLewis said: ‘It’s not that simple [doing the same thing again but just better].
‘Tyson Fury has to make some adjustments. If he didn’t make adjustments, he would lose the battle again.
‘He has to enter the ring with a clear approach and be ready to throw many more punches than in the first fight.
‘I don’t think he wants to give too much away. And I think we’re going to get a different Tyson for this fight.”
The former undisputed heavyweight champion finished by saying: ‘I think Tyson Fury realizes what he did wrong in that first fight.’
Meanwhile, Andy Lee – one of Fury’s trainers and in the corner alongside Sugar Hill Steward and his father John – has said the Gypsy King is more than capable of beating Usyk.
Lee said the cut Fury suffered above his right eye – which postponed the original fight date – had a negative impact on his training camp ahead of the rescheduled fight in May.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Lee said: ‘Due to the rescheduled date due to the cut, Tyson was unable to spar.

Lewis is confident the Gypsy King’s output will have a direct impact on the outcome of the fight, stating that Fury will need to throw a large number of punches.
“The conditioning and sharpness it took away, and his ability to focus and stay ready and sustain attacks.
“If Tyson was going to be successful, he would have to relax and back off and build his energy back up before he could continue. It will be different because he will be able to spar.
“I think Usyk will try to feint and come forward, which will force Tyson to fight him or box and move.
“He couldn’t come forward because he wasn’t in the condition not to spar, and he had to take breaks.
“This time he will win by being better conditioned and sharper.”
