The first trailer for Squid Game season 2 makes things even worse
Just like winter, season 2 of Squid game is coming, and the recently released first trailer suggests it’s going to raise the bar for Season 1 – a tough thing to do, given the first season’s life-or-death stakes and brutal body count. And it will be just as difficult to deliver on the incredible promise of the first season.

The Season 2 trailer shows that Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) is literally back in the game, after his tough decisions at the end of Season 1. He re-enters the competition to try to win the competition from the inside to take down. without realizing how difficult it will be to get the participants to listen to him, or trust his motives for trying to stop the proceedings.
And there’s a little more mystery teased in the Netflix summary of Squid game season 2:
The themes of mistrust, greed, and inability to cooperate or work collectively for survival were significant and central to Season 1. They all contribute to Hwang’s symbolic critique of global capitalism, and the desperation and sense of destructive competition it engenders . He has made it clear that these ideas will continue through Season 2 – and until its planned series finale, a third season slated for 2025.
