Today host Carson Daly makes candid confession amid speculation of Hoda Kotb replacement

Today, small-screen host Carson Daly made a candid confession about the future of his career, following the news that Hoda Kotb is quitting the NBC morning show.

Speaking exclusively to DailyMail.com as part of Today’s Halloween celebration on Thursday, which saw Kotb, 60, and Jenna Bush transform Hager into Titanic’s Jack and Rose, the 51-year-old TV host admitted he is thinking about retiring his reduce workload.

“Wow, I can’t wait to get off the TV!” the father of four revealed. “I still see Jay Leno on TV and I’m like, ‘Why?’ No, I’m… I want to cut back. I lost my father when I was five, so my time with my children is the most precious.

‘That’s what I think of Hoda, I’m happy for her, she gets more time. Getting your kids to school is much more important,” Daly added, referring to Kotb’s decision to leave her role at Today to spend more time with her daughters Haley, seven, and Hope, four.

When asked about the close, familial bond the hosts share on the Today show, Daly said: “There’s a saying that goes, ‘You can’t fake the funk,’ and I think people ask me about The Voice on NBC, they ask me all the time – when we find our coaches – “how do you find the right coaching panel for chemistry?”

“Chemistry is impossible to cast, and when you have it and when you get it, it really is the most beautiful thing there is. And what you see on the Today show is an undeniable family chemistry that is just organic.

“God made it this way for this time and all of our lives to work together and that is the simple answer,” he continued.

“You can’t imagine getting up at five in the morning and actually loving the person next to you.” We all have a relationship outside of this show and I think it will make it onto the air, but you can’t fake that,” Daly added.

The TV presenter has fronted The Voice since 2011 and joined Today as a social media correspondent in 2013, with his role increasing in subsequent years as he became co-host.

Daly shares his 15-year-old son Jackson and his three daughters Etta, 11, London, nine, and four-year-old Goldie with his wife of almost nine years Siri Pinter.

In April, Daly said during an interview with People that it felt “crazy” to have a child starting to learn to drive.

“My teenager is fifteen. He starts driving, so that was kind of crazy. I have a pickup, so he drives my truck. It’s going great. He is a really good driver,” he revealed.

Daly also revealed to the publication how sleeping in a separate bed from his wife Siri had helped them ‘stick together’.

He had previously confirmed in 2022 that he and Siri had tried “sleep separation,” which basically means sleeping in different bedrooms several nights a week.

The couple started the sleep plan when they decided to do “whatever it takes” to make their marriage survive the test of time.

‘The goal is to stay together. That’s what we would like to do,” he explained. “And so reverse engineer that it is – in any way – for the two of us, [we want to] still be in a relationship when we die.

‘It’s been good for us. We don’t do it all the time, but a few days a week – especially if I want to watch an Islanders hockey game later in the evening – I go to the guest room, she retreats upstairs to read her book or have a watch the show,” he shared.
