Tim Walz insists Biden calling Trump supporters ‘trash’ is NOT undermining their ‘unity’ message
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz tried to clean up President Joe Biden after calling half the country “garbage.”
Biden royally bungled Democrats’ response to the controversy over a speaker at Donald Trump’s rally in downtown Manhattan calling Puerto Rico a “floating pile of trash.”
There was huge outrage at MAGA after the president said Tuesday night, “The only trash I see floating around there are (Trump) supporters.”
And even Democrats warned that it’s not smart to insult MAGA voters just days before the election.
Walz emphasized in an interview with CBS Mornings on Wednesday that the president’s comments do not undermine the campaign message of “unity.”
Comedian Tony Hinchcliffe made the trash joke during his routine at the Trump rally at Madison Square Garden on Sunday.
Walz emphasized in an interview with CBS Mornings on Wednesday that the president’s comments did not undermine the campaign message of “unity.”
But Democrats and Hispanic critics immediately seized on the comments as evidence of Trump’s true thoughts toward the community and other minorities.
“You compared Trump supporters to Nazis. Biden called them “garbage.” Hillary called them “deplorables.” Doesn’t that undermine your false ‘unity’ message?’ CBS Mornings host Tony Dokoupil asked Walz.
The 2024 Democratic vice presidential nominee responded, “No, definitely not.”
In a separate interview on Good Morning America Wednesday morning, Governor Walz appeared to blame Trump.
“Donald Trump’s divisive rhetoric must end. He called this a garbage country and continues to attack the enemy from within,” Walz complained.
He reiterated that his and Vice President Kamala Harris’ message is: “There is a place for all of us here.”
Walz said Biden’s comments do not undermine his and Kamala Harris’ “unity message.”

Trump responded to Biden’s comments at his rally in Allentown, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday night, claiming it was worse than when Hillary Clinton called his supporters a “basket of deplorables” during the 2016 presidential race.
“Wow, that’s what (Biden) is saying…crap. I think it’s worse (than deplorables),” he fired back.
He was referring to Hillary Clinton’s now infamous 2016 rant about the “basket of deporables” Trump supported during his first run.
“Please forgive him because he doesn’t know what he’s saying. To be honest, he doesn’t. And I’m convinced he likes me better than Kamala,” Trump continued, with a nod to Biden’s declining mental faculties.
Trump’s allies quickly piled on criticism of Joe Biden’s comments.
“Just now Joe Biden said our supporters are trash. I hope their campaign is on the verge of an apology,” said Senator Marco Rubio of Florida, who took the stage with Trump.
“We are not trash, we are patriots who love America.”

JD Vance quickly condemned Biden, saying, “This is disgusting.”
‘This is disgusting. Kamala Harris and her boss Joe Biden are attacking half the country. There is no excuse for this. I hope the Americans reject it.’
Trump’s son Don Jr. added, “The media has been crying all week over a comedian’s joke. Meanwhile, Tim Walz called Trump supporters Nazis. Kamala Harris refused to condemn it. And now Kamala’s biggest Democratic ally, Joe Biden, is calling all Trump supporters “trash.” Absolutely disgusting!!!’
Meanwhile, Kamala Harris called Trump “unstable” and denounced his “obsession” with “grievance” and “revenge” from the DC Ellipse with the White House as its backdrop, seven days before what could be one of the closest races in history.
