Shocking video shows the moment Chando’s Tacos is robbed at gunpoint

Disturbing new footage shows the moment a masked robber attacked an employee and stole money at gunpoint from a popular taco stand in Sacramento.

Lisandro “Chando” Madrigal, the owner of Chando’s Tacos, explained how an employee had opened a door to take out the trash during closing time when the thief entered.

Surveillance video shows the suspect wearing a black hoodie, glasses and blue gloves pointing his gun at a woman’s head as he forces her to empty the cash register at the Arden Way store on Oct. 28.

The unknown robber is also seen hitting her in the head about three times as she calmly unlocks the safe and hands over the money as two other women watch.

“They were about to take out the trash, kind of their nightly routine, the back door was open, the guy snuck in and then asked for the money,” the distressed owner said.

“Then she didn’t respond to him as quickly as he wanted. As you can see in the video, everyone was a little shocked and that’s why he became a little more aggressive.

“Man, I wish it was me instead of her. I get a little choked up because I know how hard it can be to be in that situation.

“We have protocols and panic buttons at all our locations and are letting people know it’s not worth saving money.”

Lisandro “Chando” Madrigal, the owner of Chando’s Tacos, revealed that three employees were opening a door to take out the trash during closing time when the thief entered

During the robbery, a customer who had walked up to a window witnessed what happened and quickly called the police.

‘He paid closer attention and noticed they were just frozen, so he goes to another window and sees what happens. And that’s the person who called the police,” Madrigal said KCRA.

Sacramento police have since launched a manhunt for the thief. No suspect has yet been identified.

After hearing what happened, passionate customers quickly flocked in to support the company.

Matt Hine told it CBS: ‘This is really a shame. [Chando’s] is a staple here in Sacramento. It’s been here forever. This is the original location.

‘It’s just very sad that people take advantage of a good family business. When they arrest people, there should be consequences. They can’t just set up revolving doors.’

Brian Lopez, another taco lover, told KCRA : “It’s very disappointing to hear that they went through that and you know, as a Latino business, I would really like to support them and make sure that they don’t suffer from that.”

Madrigal has since revealed that he and his employees are shocked by the incident and that he is now prioritizing the protection of his employees and customers.

‘I’m afraid things have gotten to that point, but I think this is the world we live in. We need to find this person because he is hurting someone, emotionally and physically, and that is not cool,” he said.
