Reese Witherspoon’s warning to new man Oliver Haarmann as she tries to avoid ‘false expectations’ after two divorces

It may be third time lucky for some, but Reese Witherspoon has shut down any talk of marriage to her new boyfriend Oliver Haarmann.

The actress, 48, started dating the 57-year-old businessman, who co-owns the NHL’s minority New York Islanders, earlier this year after they hung out as friends.

But despite “having fun” with her new love interest, the twice-divorced actress sees no reason to say “yes” a third time.

“At 48, Reese has no plans to have any more children,” an insider told DailyMail.com. ‘She is also incredibly independent and certainly does not need a man for his money.

“The reason she told Oliver ‘no’ to marriage is because she doesn’t want him to have false expectations and think this is their future. Because it certainly isn’t.’

Reese Witherspoon has stopped any talk of marriage to her new boyfriend Oliver Haarmann, insiders have told DailyMail.com (seen together in New York in September)

Witherspoon, who is worth an estimated $440 million, started a relationship with Haarmann after they hung out as friends in the aftermath of her divorce from 54-year-old Jim Toth.

The couple, who share 12-year-old son Tennessee, called it quits in March 2023 after 12 years of marriage.

The actress, who currently stars in the Apple TV+ drama series The Morning Show, was previously married to Ryan Phillippe from 1999 to 2008. They have daughter Ava, 25, and son Deacon, 21.

Haarmann has reportedly been spending time with her two sons, with the actress flying between Nashville and New York to see him.

“Reese is doing great and loving dating,” a source told People. ‘She’s having fun with Oliver. She often flies between Nashville and New York to see him. He also spends time with her children.”

The source added, “Reese loves that he’s a businessman and not into Hollywood.”

Rumors of a romance first surfaced in July when the new couple took a helicopter ride together to New York City.

The next day, they enjoyed a romantic dinner at L’Artusi restaurant in the West Village.

At the time, a source told People that they were just “friends” as the Legally Blond actress’ “biggest priorities” were her youngest son and her work.

That same month, she spoke candidly about her divorce from Toth, claiming she felt “very connected” after announcing their split in a joint statement on social media in March.

“To be able to talk directly to people about what’s going on in my life and just share it in the way that I share great professional experiences or personal experiences,” she told Harper’s Bazaar. ‘It feels much more authentic to be able to say things in my own voice and not let someone else dictate what happens.

‘Then of course there is speculation, but I have no control over that. All I can do is be my most honest, candid self and be vulnerable.”

She continued, “I think about how many other people are going through this experience. I don’t feel isolated at all. I feel very connected.’

They have since been photographed at an event for book publisher Assouline and recently enjoyed dinner with Witherspoon’s son Deacon.

Harvard alumni Haarmann was also previously married and shares two children with his ex-wife Mala Gaonkar.

The financier was a former partner at Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. Ltd. (KKR), a global investment firm based in London. He left in 2010 and co-founded his own private equity firm, Searchlight Capital Partners.

He is worth an estimated $440 million, with $10 billion in assets under management.
