Climate activists heckle Ted Cruz on The View

>

Climate activists tried to outvote Republican Senator Ted Cruz during a heated crackdown on The View Monday morning.

Co-host Whoopi Goldberg told protesters to leave because they condemned the show for a lack of climate coverage.

Minutes later, an audience member appeared and yelled “f*** you, Ted Cruz,” prompting the show to advertise.

Cruz had said he believed Republicans would retake both the House and Senate in a “tidal wave” in the midterm elections because “people at home are saying, ‘Okay, is my life better than it was two years ago?’ And I think for the vast majority of Americans the answer is no.’

The outbursts came during an appearance with Cruz, where the hosts pressured him to support former President Donald Trump, his bid to reverse the election, riots in Democrat-controlled cities across the country, and Jan. 6.

They also criticized Cruz’s new book Justice Corrupted: How the Left Weaponized our Legal System, which hits shelves tomorrow, and questioned him about still supporting the former president, even though he called his wife Heidi ugly and said his father might was involved in the JFK assassination.

They gave him little opportunity to respond as he praised Republican records on economics and crime and criticized the Biden administration.

The interview quickly spiraled out of control when co-host Ana Navarro said the audience gave Cruz a “better reception than Yankee fans,” who booed him when he showed up to watch them play against the Houston Astros in New York on Monday night.

A “low beam,” Navarro also muttered.

Cruz when he explained Republican priorities — “life, liberty and security” — and criticized Democrats for not focusing on the economy.

Then the activist started yelling about the lack of climate coverage, prompting Goldberg to say, “Excuse me, ladies. Let’s do our job. We hear what you have to say, but you have to go. You have to go. You have to let us do our job.’

Co-host Alyssa Farah, who worked in the Trump White House before becoming a critic of the ex-president, joked, “They didn’t even protest you.”

“I take back what I said about the Yankees fans,” Navarro joked.

Continuing the interview, co-host Sunny Hostin told Cruz she didn’t know what the Republican Party stood for and said it was “hypocritical” to say traditional family values because of the party’s continued support for Trump.

‘It’s very simple. I’ll give you three words: jobs, freedom and security. If you lower taxes and lower regulations, if small businesses expand, you have a lot of jobs,” Cruz replied.

When he predicted that Democrats would lose their majority in Congress, he was once again shouted down — and the show was forced to shut down commercially.

After the break, Navarro apologized for the treatment Cruz received.

“I’ve been very vocal and very critical of you, but I’m sorry this happened in our home,” said Navarro, a Bush Republican who is a prominent Trump critic.

Navarro then recalled how Trump “got incredibly personal” with Cruz as the two ran against each other for the 2016 GOP presidential nomination.

“He suggested that your father may have been involved in the Kennedy assassination and he called your wife ugly,” Navarro said.

Farah jumped in and called Heidi Cruz “really beautiful.”

Navarro then showed Cruz a clip in which he says Trump is “utterly immoral.”

“So I have to ask you because, you know, I’m married to a Cuban man, I honestly don’t know how to get over your wife being called ugly. I don’t know how you get over those calamities against your father,’ Navarro said. “You’re over it and today you’re singing a completely different tune. Are you lying then or are you lying now?’

Cruz replied, calling it a “loaded question.”

The Texas senator said Republicans had a primary in 2016 where “Donald Trump and I killed each other.”

“I’ll tell you Heidi laughed when he said that, my dad laughed — my dad didn’t just kill Kennedy, he buried Jimmy Hoffa in the backyard. It was crazy,” Cruz said.

Cruz argued that in order to do his job as a Texas representative, he had to get it right with Trump.

“And why did I choose to work with him, even though I was angry at what he said because I had a job and a responsibility,” Cruz said, earning applause.

Cruz was later pressured by Farah, who recalled how at the time she had tried to get her bosses, conservative Republican Party members who are members of the House Freedom Caucus, to back his 2016 bid against Trump.

“I thought you were the real conservative who could beat that man,” she said. ‘He won. I ended up working for him. I’ve made my peace with that decision, but January 6 is something that I’m very difficult to get rid of.’

Cruz then compared Trump’s false claims of widespread voter fraud to past comments Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton and failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams have said.

“But they didn’t storm the Capitol, they didn’t try to kill my former boss,” Farah protested, nodding to former Vice President Mike Pence.

“We may not like it when the Republicans win, but we’re not going and we’re not storming,” Goldberg added.

Navarro pointed out that Clinton gave in to Trump in 2016 and also attended his inauguration in 2017, while Trump never gave in to Biden and skipped the president’s inauguration in 2021.

Cruz then pulled out a piece of paper to read comments from Democrats challenging the election results.

Hillary Clinton says Trump is an illegitimate president. Hillary Clinton says the election was stolen from you. Hillary Clinton in 2002: George W. Bush was not elected,” Cruz read. “Joe Biden: Al Gore has been elected president.”

Both Clinton in 2016 and Gore in 2000 won the popular vote but lost the election because of the Electoral College.

The interview continued to derail until the very end, with Goldberg having to cut Cruz’s last points.

“I’m sorry, I was trying to tell you to go,” she told the Texas Republican.

Cruz went on The View after he was booed by Yankees fans Monday night when he appeared in the Bronx.

Photos also showed several onlookers turning the bird over to the Republican senator from Texas, while one gave him a resounding thumbs down.

But Cruz — dressed in a bright orange shirt to match the Astros colors — got the last laugh when he saw Houston head back to the World Series.
