Accused ‘murder for hire’ housewife Lindsay Shiver thrown back in Bahamian jail after GMA appearance
Accused housewife Lindsay Shiver was thrown back in jail on her birthday after a Bahamian judge branded her recent appearance on a US daytime show a “spit in the face” of justice, DailyMail.com can exclusively reveal.
Judge Cheryl Grant-Thompson said images of Shiver – who turned 38 on Monday – “parading in a blue summer dress” on Good Morning America were a clear breach of the island nation’s strict limits on pre-trial publicity.
The October 3 segment featured an interview with her co-accused bartender Adrien Bethel, in which he mocked claims that they had plotted with alleged assassin Faron Newbold Jr. to kill Shiver’s estranged husband Robert, 39.
Shiver and Bethel blamed ABC for reneging on a contractual agreement not to air footage before the outcome of their conspiracy to commit murder trial, scheduled for March 2025.
But both are headed to Nassau’s infamous Fox Hill Prison – one of the grimmest incarcerations in the Caribbean – after Grant-Thompson revoked their bail and ordered police to handcuff Shiver and lead her away .

The High Court judge wrote in a damning 14-page ruling, exclusively obtained by DailyMail.com: ‘What the respondents have done may be seen by the applicant as a spit in the face of justice.
‘If it had been the other way around, if Crown counsel had gone his own way and made unnecessary comments to the international media, the respondents would likely be ‘in contention’.
“They would be concerned about their right to a fair trial.”
A defendant giving an interview at this stage of the proceedings in the US may be unwise, but it would be perfectly legal. But it is illegal in the Bahamas, which has its roots in the British legal system, where it is considered interference with justice to broadcast anything that could influence a prospective juror.
“Mrs. Shiver. …featured in the Good Morning America interview, in which we parade around on international television in a blue sundress and speak directly about the evidence in the trial,” the ruling thundered.
It added: “The respondents were arrested and charged in the Bahamas. The respondents applied for bail in accordance with the laws of the Bahamas.
“It cannot now be said that, being citizens of the United States of America, they are subject to the laws and customs of the United States in relation to any proceeding pending in the Bahamas.
“This court will not accept this blatant disregard for the laws of The Bahamas.”
Shiver was further accused of staying overnight in multiple locations and taking several vacations in Florida, despite the court having given her a GPS tag and ordering her to sleep alone at her parents’ home in Abbeville, Alabama.
Unlike the US, it is considered unlawful for a suspect to give an interview at this stage of the proceedings in the Bahamas, which has its roots in the British legal system.

Mother of three Shiver plotted to kill her estranged husband along with her lover, prosecutors in the Bahamas allege
She and Bethel – who was also accused of failing to notify local police eight times – have challenged the decision, but they will remain behind bars until the Court of Appeal hears the decision, a process that could take several weeks .
Rat-infested Fox Hill has come under heavy fire from Amnesty International for its appalling conditions and high suicide rate.
The feud is the latest controversial episode in an often shambolic court case that has seen Shiver’s trial postponed several times just as it was about to begin, with the latest date set for March 2025, nearly two years after her arrest .
Wealthy Georgian couple Lindsay and Robert Shiver once had it all: three wonderful children, a seven-bed mansion, a private jet, and a vacation home in Baker’s Bay, an ultra-exclusive enclave in the Bahamas where the likes of Tom Brady and Michael Jordan own properties.
However, former Auburn football star Robert filed for divorce in April 2023, accusing his wife of cheating, while Shiver responded with claims of “physically and mentally cruel treatment.”
Three months later, she was sensationally accused in the Bahamas of conspiring with her new lover Bethel, 28, to have his childhood friend Newbold, 29, kill Robert.
Shiver would be Newbold Jr. sent photos of her estranged husband of 13 years drinking at a bar near Baker’s Bay – along with a WhatsApp message saying ‘kill him’.
Bethel joined Shiver in telling Good Morning America during the October 3 interview that the trio is completely innocent of a murder-for-hire plot.

The case also centers on a controversial “confession” in which she admitted to police that she told Bethel she “wanted to kill” Robert and that Bethel “understood” him and “wanted to kill him too.”
However, in the same police interview, Shiver emphasized that any talk of murder was only “said out of anger and frustration,” according to prosecution documents obtained by DailyMail.com.
When Bahamian authorities informed Robert of the alleged threat, he labeled his wife “manipulative” and accused her of having multiple affairs, the documents say.
“If anything happened to me, Lindsay would get a lot of money,” added the father of three, who flew back to the US while his ex was locked up in Fox Hill for 19 days.
Shiver was eventually released on $100,000 bail and allowed to return to the US to live in Alabama with an electronic ankle bracelet that recorded her movements.
She, Bethel and Newbold face up to 60 years in prison if convicted.
But prosecutors will have to convince a jury that the messages represented a genuine plot against him — rather than the three friends just blowing off steam.
Shiver, who was in the middle of a divorce, was arrested in July 2023 for allegedly plotting to take out husband Robert while vacationing at his family’s home in the sun-drenched Abaco Islands of the Bahamas.

Robert continues to live in the couple’s marital home in Thomasville, Georgia, where their hostile divorce and custody battle has stalled due to the Nassau proceedings.
The wait can be long as criminal cases are often plagued by delays in the overburdened Bahamian legal system, with cases typically taking three years or more to reach trial.
Alabama-born Shiver graduated from Auburn University, where the two met in 2007 when Robert was captain of the football team.
Robert signed with the Atlanta Falcons as a free agent, but was let go due to roster cuts prior to the 2009 season and eventually became an executive vice president of a life insurance company.
He is currently dating reality TV star Savannah Chrisley, 27, and has never spoken publicly about his estranged wife.
In an exclusive chat with DailyMail.com in August 2023, Bethel declared his love for Shiver and said her marriage was on the rocks long before he came on the scene.
‘None of us have anything to hide. People take everything for granted and slander us,” he told us.
