Kansas City Chiefs trade for Patriots’ Josh Uche to add another defensive star in bid for third straight Super Bowl
The Kansas City Chiefs have added another star to their defense by trading for starting linebacker Josh Uche from the New England Patriots.
The reigning Super Bowl champions are already 7-0 but continue to improve, this time adding another strongside linebacker just days after DeAndre Hopkins joined the team.
Uche was drafted by the Patriots out of Michigan in 2020 and will now leave New England for Kansas City.
He was a healthy scratch for Sunday’s win over the New York Jets, and the reason for his absence has now been revealed via trade news.
Uche, 26, already has two sacks in six games this season and 20.5 in his relatively short career.

The move takes the Florida native from arguably the worst team in the NFL to the best, joining the likes of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.
He is currently on a one-year contract worth $3 million after re-signing with the Patriots as a free agent prior to the season, and will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the current season.
The Chiefs’ defense already ranks second in the NFL this season, and Uche’s arrival further reinforces that.

Andy Reid’s team are back-to-back Super Bowl champions and are aiming for the three-peat in New Orleans next February.
Despite not playing their best, the Chiefs have won seven in a row and are the only undefeated team left in the NFL.
They next host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night Football before a matchup with the Broncos – also at Arrowhead.
From there they have a tough journey to the Buffalo Bills where their credentials will be tested against one of their biggest rivals for the AFC title.
