‘Local Karen to blame’ for furious note that sparked street feud – as neighbours in the ritzy suburb rally around family at centre of party row
A Sydney homeowner who targeted a group of young women for holding a Halloween party on her street has been criticized by other neighbors who claim she couldn’t have been more wrong.
The housemates had warned fellow residents on the street about the party at the house near Balmoral Beach in Mosman, North Sydney, before it started on Saturday evening.
The handwritten notes promised that “noise and disruptions” would be kept within reasonable limits, out of respect for the surrounding community, and acknowledged the potential inconvenience.
“We understand that it can be disruptive to live next to a home where an event is taking place, and we appreciate your patience and understanding.”
Although it was noted that police had been alerted to the event, a neighbor took to a locals’ social media group on Monday morning to complain about the party.
The frustrated neighbor claimed the house had been converted into a student dormitory and played host to a number of loud parties since it was sold for $8 million in June last year.
She went on to say that the party continued until about 2:30 a.m., but others in neighboring properties disagreed.
A neighbor told Daily Mail Australia the party hosts and their guests were nothing but courteous and had only held two other parties in the year since living there.
They said the locals’ claims in a social media post (pictured) were exaggerated and that the tenants were courteous and had only had three parties since June last year.
He said the tenants came by to personally apologize for a previous party that was “a little loud.”
The neighbor added that they “couldn’t hear” the party Saturday night and appreciated the handwritten letter.
A second agreed that even with the rare parties, they have had no complaints about the tenants.
They both said Saturday’s Halloween party ended at 1 a.m., well before the woman’s claim that it would start at 2:30 a.m.
Another noted that he had no idea there was a party going on and said he “never noticed any loud noise or music.”

NSW Police told Daily Mail Australia they had not received any noise complaints outside the house on Saturday evening.
Built in 1981, the house was first offered for sale in June 2023 and described as an ‘exceptionally rare opportunity’ to build in an ‘idyllic Balmoral setting’.
‘It’s the ultimate setting for a family lifestyle where a morning swim and stroll along the sands of Balmoral Beach is just 130 yards away,’ the ad says.
A renovated house on the same street sold for a whopping $10.4 million in August this year.
