Victoria Police said in a statement that two girls, aged 13 and 14, fled and were unharmed.

One of the girls, Ally Hawking, told Nine News that a man approached to ask for directions.

“He was really close to us and then he said come look in the back of my car and look at the maps and he opened the back door for us and then Zoe and I left,” Ally told Nine News.

A passerby intervened and escorted the girls home.
