Sharon Horgan has said there is life after divorce as she revealed her brood is a ‘bit of a circus family’ as she juggles acting and parenting.
The Irish actress, 52, married businessman Jeremy Rainbird in 2005 and the couple were married for 14 years until they split in 2019.
Speaking to The Sunday Times, Sharon revealed that she lives with her two daughters Sadhbh and Amer, now 16 and 20, but family life can be challenging at times.
“It’s hard because it’s just me, but we make it work,” she said. ‘It’s a bit of a circus family: my work-life balance had to change, and that’s good.
“But when I take a job, the girls are incredibly encouraging because they know I’d rather be with them.”

Sharon’s divorce reflected the storyline of her American series Divorce, which she wrote.
Divorce, starring Sarah Jessica Parker, debuted in 2016 and followed character Frances Dufresne, a married woman who has an affair and begins divorce proceedings with her husband.
Sharon became pregnant just six months after meeting Jeremy and based her Channel 4 drama Catastrophe, starring Rob Delaney, on their experiences.
When the show first came out, she told the New Yorker, “If it wasn’t so hard to get divorced, I would get divorced.”
Sharon also opened up about her divorce from her husband Jeremy last year and how it ‘changed’ her life.
As they talk, they reflect on their separation Red magazineSharon admitted that she was initially ‘scared’ about divorcing her husband, but is now much happier.
She told the publication: ‘I thought it was scary at first, but it’s about learning to do things in a slightly different way.
‘Everything I was dependent on someone else for, I was largely able to learn myself.

‘I’m not saying I don’t have help around me – it’s a very old thing that I run here – but learning to do things I was afraid of has made my life richer.
‘I feel more in control and independent. I definitely feel happier than I have in recent years.’
Sharon went on to speak about the ‘shame’ surrounding divorce, saying this shouldn’t be the case as it can be a life-changing decision.
“Divorce can be very helpful and convenient and can change your life,” she said.
“There’s a lot of shame attached to the failure of a relationship, and that shouldn’t be the case.”
While the actress has spoken about the storyline for Catastrophe in the past, “That’s what happened to me,” she says, “so it made sense to write about it.”
The couple met 14 years ago and the writer and actress became pregnant just six months later – loosely basing her Channel 4 drama Catastrophe, with Rob Delaney, on their experiences.
After announcing their divorce, Jeremy said the couple would be co-parenting their two children, claiming they all recently hung out together and “We’re so lucky that we’re real friends.”
Since writing Pulling, which began in 2006, Sharon has written and starred in Hollywood films and British dramas, including Game on and Motherland.
The Irish star also bought a house in Hollywood. The one-story 1953 house, just below the Hollywood sign, was once owned by Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante in the late 1990s.
