Raygun keeps folder of her own memes on her phone: ‘I’ve got a digital pool room’

Olympic breakdancer Raygun has introduced a surprising new look.

The Australian Olympian, real name Rachael Gunn, became a source of worldwide ridicule during the Paris Olympics.

Dressed in an Australian tracksuit that looked more like a cricket uniform than a breakdancing outfit, Raygun jumped like a kangaroo and slithered across the floor like a snake in a routine that failed to impress the judges.

The breakdancer looked completely different on Sunday when this week’s cover of Stellar Magazine and her very first fashion shoot were shared on Instagram.

On the magazine’s cover, Raygun traded her green and gold tracksuit and baseball cap for a figure-hugging electric blue dress with flared sleeves.

In the glam fashion, she also wore a black halter neck with a deep V-neck, a statement cream jumpsuit and a figure-hugging little black dress.

The academic turned breakdancer looks defiant as she places her hands on hips against a yellow nylon and bright blue background.

Raygun wore her hair in a long ponytail for the shoot and went for a bronzed makeup look with dark red lipstick.

She completed her look with a pair of black strappy heels.

The accompanying cover line reads: ‘What Raygun did next?’, alongside a quote from the accompanying interview inside.

“You didn’t put me down. You didn’t succeed. I stand by what I did,” she says.

Raygun keeps a folder on her phone with her own memes that she said have kept her sane over the past few months.

“Can you believe that?” she asked her interviewer as she showed them a selection of her favorites – including an image of her dancing on the back window of a Jeep.

‘How good is that? I’m going to buy that for my car.’

“I have a digital pool room with the best.”

Raygun was comprehensively defeated in all her battle rounds at this year’s Paris Olympics, with her routine going viral and even mocked by the likes of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

In a huge twist, she returned from Paris and was named the No. 1 breakdancer in the world, despite not even coming close to winning a medal due to a quirk in the way dancers are judged.

On her worst days, the late-night icon said she would scroll through the folder to remind herself that she also found joy in her experience, as well as the barrage of public abuse.

“It was so hard to process,” she said.

‘My whole world has changed. My identity has changed. My relationships have changed, for better or worse. Unfortunately, in times like these you find out who your real friends are.

‘And because things are still changing, it’s just impossible to keep your wits about you. It’s hard to predict what it will be like when I leave home.’

“I am a confident woman of 37, without children, with a career and having fun,” Raygun said

In her first-ever fashion photo shoot and accompanying interview, the unlikely Australian icon said the reason for most of the public outcry against her was her age and childfree status.

“I am a confident woman of 37, without children, with a career and having fun,” she told Stellar.

In another glamor shot, Raygun posed sitting against a bright blue wall with her hands clasped behind her head and one knee pulled up to her chest.

She wears a bold red lip and makes direct eye contact with the camera, as if daring people to challenge her.

Since returning to Australia early last month, Raygyn said she has deliberately kept a low profile, turning down many media appearances and reality TV appearances.

“There was so much hatred and emotion that I had to wait until everyone had calmed down.”

But now she is preparing several new projects and herself to come into the spotlight.

In addition, she will receive a new honor on the front lawns of Australian homes, with handmade tributes to her routine placed ahead of Halloween on October 31.

A Melbourne resident has immortalized her kangaroo-hopping routine with a papier-mâché effigy, complete with Aussie tracksuit and Olympic flag.

The artist remains unknown, but a resident called radio station 3AW to let them know that the ‘sculpture’ had been placed on a nature strip in their suburb.

“After her huge breakdancing success in Paris, Raygun is now dancing on the streets of the north,” the caller said.

3AW presenter Ross Stevenson was stunned when he was shown an image of the tribute.

“That’s amazing,” he said.

‘That’s great. Someone put up a statue of Raygun.

“Is that in someone’s backyard or on a public road?”

The caller replied: ‘It is on the public road, on the nature strip.’

Stevenson said: ‘That’s excellent.

‘Look at the balance they managed to achieve there with that statue. How do you do that?’

It’s not the only Raygun tribute created ahead of Halloween.

Another house in Melbourne has used a fake skeleton, posing it in the kangaroo-hopping dance position and dressing it in the same tracksuit.

Another tribute to the skeleton has been captured at an unknown Australian location, complete with red glowing LED eyes.
