When does the Monster Hunter Wilds open beta start and how do you get access?
Monster Hunter Wilds‘s open beta gives you the chance to play the next major installment of Capcom’s long-running action role-playing game series a few months early.
While available to all players, players on PlayStation 5 (with an active PlayStation Plus subscription) will also receive a period of early access.
If you can participate, you will receive several beta rewards to include in the full release, as well as your custom character and palico, when the game fully launches on February 28, 2025.

Monster Hunter Wilds beta dates for PS5, Xbox and PC
Monster Hunter WildsThe game’s beta will take place in two periods in one week, with the first being exclusive to PlayStation Plus subscribers on PS5 for the first few days, before expanding to all platforms (and for PS5, non-PlayStation Plus subscribers) as the weekend approaches.
Here are the Monster Hunter Wilds beta dates in North America, and for which platforms:
- Monday October 28 to Wednesday October 30 (PS5 PlayStation Plus subscribers only)
- Thursday October 31 to Sunday November 3 (All PS5 players, Xbox Series X and Windows PC Steam players)
For those in Europe and Japan, add a day to the start and end dates above and/or use the following times to find out exactly when you can start playing in your region.

The PlayStation Plus period of Monster Hunter Wilds‘s open beta starts at the following times in your time zone:
- 8:00 PM PDT off the west coast of North America (on Monday, October 28)
- 11pm EDT off the east coast of North America (on Monday, October 28)
- 5am CEST for Western Europe/Paris (on Tuesday, October 29)
- 4am BST for Great Britain (on Tuesday, October 29)
- 12:00 JST in Japan/Tokyo (on Tuesday, October 29)
The times above are also when each period ends – so for those in North America, it ends on Wednesday, October 30 at 8:00 PM PDT / 11:00 PM EDT.
As with all beta releases, be aware that server issues may occur, especially at the beginning of the test. This is something that Capcom itself has mentioned, saying that the purpose of the beta is “to verify certain elements such as network load” and as such “cannot guarantee a stable gameplay experience.”
How to access the Monster Hunter Wilds open beta on PS5, Xbox and PC
The beginning of the Monster Hunter WildsThe game’s open beta is only available to PlayStation Plus subscribers on PlayStation 5. The second period, starting October 31, is available to all players on Xbox, Windows PC and PlayStation, including non-PlayStation Plus subscribers.
No pre-order, registration or key is required to gain access. Just go to your platform’s storefront and download the open beta client.
A pre-load will be available 24 hours before each platform’s start time, meaning you can start playing as soon as the test starts.
What’s in the Monster Hunter Wilds open beta?
The Monster Hunter Wilds open beta includes the following:
- Opening of the story, including the opening chatacabra tutorial hunt
- The hunting encounter in Doshaguma
- The character and palico creator, which can be carried over to the full game
- Multiplayer support via SOS torches, which works cross-platform

By participating in the open beta you will claim two rewards that you can use towards the full game at launch:
- ‘Stuffed Felyne teddy bear” Pendant (cosmetic item)
- Open Beta Test Bonus Item Pack (with 10 Mega Potion, 5 Ration, 5 Lifepowder, 5 Armor Sphere, 2 Max Potion, 2 Herbal Medicine, 2 Nulberry)
The requirement to unlock these is simply to create a character, which is then imported into the full game. So if you do that, no matter how much you play next, the above rewards are yours. Please note that an online connection is required to transfer these elements.
