Beyoncé fans furious she didn’t perform live at Kamala Harris Houston rally: ‘We wanted a free concert!’

Beyoncé fans were furious after the singer did not perform at a rally in Texas for Kamala Harris.

The star took to the stage in her native Houston on Friday evening to support the vice president.

Some fans had waited more than 12 hours before packing into the city’s Shell Energy Stadium in anticipation of a performance after rumors that she would sing circulated online and appeared in the Washington Post.

The singer seemed to come tantalizingly close to delighting the audience as she began talking about how it’s time for America to “sing a new song.”

However, rallygoers were ultimately left disappointed when the ‘Single Ladies’ hitmaker made a brief appearance saying she wasn’t there as a celebrity but as a mother.

Attendees reported seeing people marching toward the exit as soon as they left the stage.

The anger was palpable on social media, where fans complained that they had been ‘fooled’ by the billing.

“Bait-and-switch people building,” someone groused. “Promised a performance to bring people in and they headed for the exit as Beyoncé left the stage.”

“She can’t even keep promises to her own followers with a Beyoncé performance, but yeah, she’s going to completely close the border and all that. Kamala Harris is a mess,” another added.

“Y’all thought you were going to a free Beyoncé concert,” one person joked.

Beyoncé previously performed during her endorsement for Hillary Clinton in 2016.

Many people expected her to sing her song “Freedom” from her 2016 album Lemonade, which has been adopted as the Harris campaign’s anthem.

And on Friday, she was joined at the event by her former Destiny’s Child bandmate Kelly Rowland, but she didn’t sing anything from her own discography or the band’s discography.

Instead, the two introduced Harris to rapturous applause.

“We are so happy to stand here on this stage as proud women from rural Texas supporting and celebrating the one and only Vice President Kamala Harris,” she said.

“We are on the cusp of an incredible shift, on the edge of history,” Beyoncé said.

The singer added that she appeared as someone “who cares deeply about the world in which my children and all our children live, a world in which we have the freedom to control our bodies.”

“Imagine our daughters growing up and seeing what is possible with no ceilings and no limitations,” she said.

She also told the cheering crowd to imagine the sacrifices their grandmothers made “so we can witness the strength of a woman in her power and reimagine what leadership is.”

Beyoncé addressed everyone and said, “your voice is one of the most valuable instruments, and we need you.”

She said Texas has a role to play and needs to be part of something bigger.

“It’s time for America to sing a new song,” she said.

Before that, Rowland spoke, telling the crowd that Houston “has already had a hand in creating destiny.”

“We are taking back the pen from those who are trying to write an American narrative that would deny women the right to make our own decisions about our bodies,” Rowland said.

“We’re taking back the pen, that pen to blaze a new trail with Kamala Harris and Tim Walz,” she said. The singer revealed that she had already voted for them.

They weren’t the only celebrities to take the stage in Texas. Actress and businesswoman Jessica Alba also spoke and music legend Willie Nelson performed.
