Dana White asked Mark Zuckerberg about fixing ‘incompetent’ UFC rankings
Dana White recently reached out to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg for help improving the UFC rankings system, possibly with the help of artificial intelligence.
The UFC boss confirmed his conversations with Meta’s CEO on Thursday during an interview with TNT Sports.
“I could go on, but I won’t,” White said. “We literally met this week to work on it. I actually talked to Mark Zuckerberg about AI as well, so yeah. I’m going to improve the rankings completely. We are going to take many strong steps here in 2025.”
White previously expressed frustration with the current rankings that are voted on by a group of media outlets selected by the UFC, a system that has been in place since 2013.
“I just can’t deal with incompetence,” White said earlier this month. “I just can’t handle it anymore. It drives me crazy. I can’t let people who I don’t believe know what they’re talking about handle the rankings anymore. I just can’t do it. I have to come up with a solution.”
According to MMA Junkie, there have been recent complaints that Max Holloway was ranked below Justin Gaethje, and that Renato Moicano’s ranking remained unchanged after his win against Benoit Saint Denis in September.
The UFC has become the sporting arm of Donald Trump’s Maga movement under White, a longtime ally of the former US president who spoken at the past three Republican National Conventions.
