David Gandy blasts British Airways for splitting him from his daughter, two, who was forced to sit next to stranger on overbooked flight to Marrakesh

David Gandy has taken a flight with British Airways after being separated from his two-year-old son during a four-hour flight.

The model, 44, tweeted about the ordeal last night: ‘So @British_Airways you oversold the flight.

“Our assigned seats are gone and you’re okay with my 2-year-old sitting alone next to a stranger? What if there is an emergency?

‘BA: Well, we can’t do anything, so yeah, it’s okay. COME ON BA, you can do better than this.”

Mr Gandy flew to London from Marrakech with his girlfriend Stephanie Mednoros and their two children.

In 2021, he welcomed his second daughter Tabitha Isabella with his lawyer girlfriend.

The couple also share daughter Matilda, born in 2018.

The proud father, Britain’s highest-paid male model, has been in a relationship with lawyer Stephanie for four years, but remains cagey about his private life.

The family, who are said to be worth £12 million, were on holiday and staying at the £1,000-a-night Mandarin Oriental Marrakech.

Posting pictures on his Instagram before flying home, Gandy said: ‘From the completely private swimming pools to the oasis of peace of 20 hectares of olive groves and gardens, mountain views to the small farm for the children and just 10 minutes away from the famous Medina. I can’t say enough about the @mo_marrakech resort and the wonderful team who looked after my family and me.’

The responses to his tweet also suggested it had happened to others.

I have experienced exactly this with a number of private clients of mine,” one person responded.

“It was a party of eight with three children, and none of them had a seat together, even though they had booked it in advance.”

Another person replied: ‘This also happened to my 5 year old son and I with BA on our flight home from Alicante in August.’

The star was among passengers on the turbulent journey which left children ‘traumatised’ during a bumpy descent into the Portuguese capital.

Elizabeth Hurley warned fans not to ‘fly’ and said she was ‘stranded’ at Antigua airport for more than 12 hours when her British Airways flight was delayed.

In 2022, the actress had a falling out with the airline when she and other passengers went without food or water for 20 hours.

In 2019, pop band Simply Red, fronted by Mick Hucknall, shared their annoyance at their plane apparently taking off without them, despite them having their luggage.
