A second secret Predator movie will be released next year
Prey20th Century Studios’ revival of the Predator franchise following the Disney acquisition played like gangbusters when it arrived on Hulu in 2022. A year later, Polygon spoke to director Dan Trachtenberg, who admitted the stakes were staggeringly high for what felt like an inevitable sequel — so he didn’t want to just come out Prey 2. Instead, as announced in February, Trachtenberg and 20th Century would jump from the 18th century to the distant future. Predator: Badlandsa sequel starring Elle Fanning, now set in 2025.
But it turns out Badlands isn’t the only Predator project Trachtenberg has come up with since then Prey. In the extensive chat on 20th Century Studios’ list, Asbell also presents a direct sequel to Alien: Romulusfollowing the characters Rain (Cailee Spaeny) and Andy (David Jonsson). Although director Fede Álverez is not officially on board, the director suggests that the deals are close and the project is moving forward. Asbell also says that 20th Century will “probably” do another Alien vs. Predator will do, but it won’t resemble previous attempts at the crossover franchise. “If we do this,” Asbell said in the interview, “they will grow organically from these two franchises that we have continued with characters that we fall in love with and combine those characters… maybe.” Asbell says Trachtenberg’s non-live-action Predator film will be released sooner on an unnamed distribution platform Badlandswhich was scheduled this week for November 7, 2025.
