Jose Mourinho goes on hilarious tirade against referee who sent him off against Man United as Paul Scholes labels interview ‘better than the game!’
Jose Mourinho went on a hilarious rant against the referee who sent him off during Fenerbahce’s draw against Manchester United.
Mourinho was sent off by referee Clement Turpin after the hosts saw a criminal case dismissed.
Fenerbahce’s manager led the Turkish club’s protests against the decision with the score tied at 1-1 on the night.
Asked about the incident after the match, the 61-year-old told TNT Sports: ‘I don’t want to talk about it.
‘He told me something incredible. He told me at the same time that he could see the action in the penalty area and my behavior on the touchline.
‘I congratulate him because he is absolutely incredible. His peripheral vision during the match, 100mph, meant he had one eye on the penalty situation and one eye on the bench and my behaviour.
‘That’s the explanation he gave me. That’s why he’s one of the best referees in the world.’
Asked if he had had a chance to review the incident and whether he still thought it was a penalty, Mourinho replied: “I have reviewed the incident. I’m not talking about the incident.”
