ALISON BOSHOFF: Is Amazon-sized prenup holding up billionaire Jeff Bezos’ wedding?

Is the Jeff Bezos-Lauren Sanchez wedding being postponed due to the need for the granddaddy of all prenuptials?

The couple got engaged in May last year and had a big engagement party in November.

Given Bezos’ enormous wealth – the Amazon founder is worth around $205 billion – there are expectations that their wedding will be of a size that will confound the world, especially considering the 30-carat diamond that former TV host Sanchez wears.

But despite rumors that they would get married in the summer, they remain unmarried. A source said: ‘Jeff is so crazy about her that he would get married tomorrow if he could, but I hear they are still working on a prenup.

“His lawyers won’t let him continue without it.”

Another friend says, “Everyone’s wondering when an invite might come. Summer was the obvious time because from now on there are Oscar campaigns and Thanksgiving and it will be much harder to gather all their famous friends and the people who are expected to go.

“So it’s a bit of a mystery why it hasn’t happened yet.”

But the friend added: ‘You won’t meet a more in love couple so it has nothing to do with that.’

Preparing a prenuptial agreement, which would protect Bezos’ finances in the event of a split, will be a major undertaking, covering assets on both sides, down to cars and jewelry.

A spokesperson for Sanchez says there is “no recourse” about a prenup.

News of their romance broke in 2019, around the time Bezos announced he was divorcing his wife of 25 years, MacKenzie Scott, with whom he has four children. Sanchez divorced her husband, Officer Patrick Whitesell.

They have two children and she has a son from a relationship with former NFL star Tony Gonzalez.
