Alan Wake 2’s new DLC includes a big, exciting Control 2 Easter egg
Alan Wake2‘s recently released downloadable content, The Lake Househas strong ties to Control, developer Remedy Entertainment’s other ongoing franchise. The DLC sends players into a Federal Bureau of Control research facility as Agent Kiran Estevez to unravel its secrets and battle new enemies. The Lake House is not only more connective tissue for the Remedy Connected Universe, it also appears to contain an explicit teaser for it Control 2and what players will face in that game.
In an optional scene The Lake HouseEstevez is transported to the Oceanview Motel where he is seen Alan Wake2‘s New York, then to Control‘s Oldest House. In the Panopticon of the Oldest House, Estevez meets Dylan Faden (also known as Prime Candidate 6 or P6), the brother of Control main character Jessie. Their meeting offers a taste of what is to come Control 2which appears to be the Hiss breaking containment and possibly flowing into the streets of New York City.
Remedy announced Control 2 in 2022. At the time, game director Mikael Kasurinen said the sequel would be “an unexpected journey. It will take a while, but to say the least this is the most exciting project I have ever worked on. It’s still early, but it will be worth the wait.”
Last week, Remedy revealed another project currently in development, FBC: Firebreaka three-player cooperative first-person shooter set in the Federal Bureau of Control. “As the Bureau headquarters face a deadly and prolonged siege by alien forces, only Firebreak – the most adaptable response unit – has the skills and courage to restore order,” Remedy said of the game. The multiplayer spin-off of the Control franchise, formerly known as Condor, is coming to PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X sometime in 2025.
Alan Wake2 And Control were both named among Polygon’s best games of the year for 2023 and 2019 respectively.
