Flaming idiot! Aussie ignores the fact his car is on fire and loads it up with beer outside liquor shop

This is the moment an Australian man continued to load his car with beer, seemingly ignoring the sight of the vehicle on fire.

Surreal footage shows the bonnet of a car bursting into flames as black smoke rises from the vehicle parked outside a liquor store in the Sydney suburb of Ermington.

The driver then emerges from the nearby store with a case of beer in hand. He then starts going about his business as if nothing was out of the ordinary and despite the cries of a nearby bystander for him to ‘go away’.

He even opens the driver’s door – which is just inches away from the fire – and appears to be searching for something completely unaffected by the fire.

A heroic man then rushes to the inferno with a small fire extinguisher to try to put out the flames without much success.

At this point the man finally leaves his vehicle, but he makes sure not to forget his most important beers and takes them to a nearby restaurant.

The video continues recording while the car is still on fire.

According to the cameraman, New South Wales Fire and Rescue were called and arrived within ten minutes to extinguish the fire.

The unnamed cameraman said: ‘I had parked my car at the local shopping center when I noticed smoke coming from the vehicle across the driveway.

‘Eventually the smoke turned to dark smoke and fire erupted from the front of the car.

‘Everyone stayed away from the fire, waiting for the fire brigade to arrive. We all expected the car to explode, but then we noticed the car owner coming out of the local liquor store with a carton of beer under his arm.

‘At first I couldn’t believe what I saw: a car on fire, and then this guy walked out with a carton of beer like it was just another day. I thought he was definitely going to call for help, but then he casually puts the beer in the backseat of his burning car!’

He added: ‘It was a mixture of shock, disbelief and a bit of humour. I mean, who does that? It was surreal, like watching a scene from a movie where common sense takes a back seat to beer. Fortunately, no one was injured.’
