Gruesome new details in murder of woman, 60, ‘by neighbor’ in remote Utah town

A 60-year-old woman was murdered so brutally that the car she died in was dripping blood afterwards, police say.

Kimberly Hyde, 60, was found stabbed to death in the back of her car in Vernal, Utah, on October 8, a day after she disappeared from her home in Roosevelt, 40 miles away.

Police documents seen by ABC4 say ‘blood dripped from (Hyde’s) car and pooled on the ground below.’

She was ‘tied up’ and suffered deep stab wounds. According to police, “they appeared to inflict as much damage as possible to ensure the victim’s death.”

Kimberly Hyde, 60, was found dead in her car about 40 miles from her home on October 8, the day after her husband Michael (pictured together) reported her missing.

Hyde’s suspected killer is her neighbor Henry Resuera, 37, who fled to the Philippines. An unknown minor is also suspected of involvement in the case.

The grim police report into Hyde’s death says she was found ‘restrained’ in her car to restrict her last movements and that she died of ‘apparent blunt force trauma to her face and neck’.

A medical examiner says Hyde was “bleeding slowly from her wounds.”

No motive for the horrific murder has been shared. Police have now revealed that Hyde spent part of her last day running errands with Resuera’s wife.

The two were friends. The women spent the morning and early afternoon of October 7 together.

Later that afternoon, a man believed to be Henry Resuera was seen on camera driving Hyde’s car, followed by his own Dodge.

Hyde’s body was found on a remote stretch of land in Vernon, Utah (pictured), where police said she suffered a number of gruesome, fatal wounds and was “slowly bleeding to death.”

Both cars were seen by Vernal that evening, with Vernal’s husband Michael reporting her missing after returning home from work.

Her body was discovered the next morning.

Police remained quiet about the circumstances and causes of Hyde’s death during the first days of their investigation.

Hyde's autopsy found that her wounds

Hyde’s autopsy found that her wounds “appeared to inflict as much damage as possible to ensure the death of the victim,” and Hyde’s cause of death was found to be “apparent blunt force trauma” to her head and face.

According to the probable cause statement, Henry Resuera was seen walking to Hyde’s house around 2 p.m. with a bag full of belongings and a hat, while his wife and Hyde were still outside.

The two women returned around 2:30 p.m., before Hyde texted Resuera’s wife 15 minutes later to “go (Vernal) again.”

Hyde’s car was then seen driving back and forth from Vernal several times beginning at about 4:30 p.m., and at 5 p.m. a small man wearing a hat – later identified as Resuera – was seen driving Hyde’s car.

A juvenile member of Resuera’s family later told police that Resuera had instructed him to meet him in Vernal that evening, but would not say why, and was told to follow Hyde’s vehicle into Resuera’s evasion.

At some point, Resuera exited Hyde’s vehicle and entered the dodge with the juvenile before telling the juvenile that he had killed Hyde, police said.

The exact nature of the minor’s relationship with Resuera is not clear, and authorities have not said whether they expect to charge the minor with any crimes.

After leaving Hyde’s vehicle, the youth told police that Resuera “instructed” him to take him to Salt Lake City Airport, where he then flew to the Philippines, his native country.

Hyde’s husband returned home around 6:12 p.m. and reported his wife missing at 8 p.m., while Hyde’s body and car were found early the next morning.

When investigators interviewed Resuera’s family members, they allegedly told them that “Henry revealed to them that he had killed Kimberly Hyde.”

The family gave details not known to the public, saying they feared Resuera after previous episodes of domestic violence that had not been reported to police.

Following the release of the probable cause documents, investigators said they believe Resuera’s “movements are consistent with the murder and disappearance of Kimberly Hyde.”

‘Moreover, because his wife was with him [Hyde]he would know when [Hyde] would return home. Henry then confesses his [family] that he killed [Hyde] and information was provided to them regarding the murder that had not been made publicly available,” they said.

Authorities are now trying to locate Resuera in the Philippines and are seeking to charge him with aggravated murder, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary.

Michael Hyde told it Fox8 he has been left heartbroken by his wife’s murder and says it is “hard now to be here all alone.”

“It’s a goodbye for now, but not forever, and that helps me to keep going.”

Michael said he and Kimberly had a strong relationship with Resuera and his family, often attending church and having dinner together.

Michael told FOX8, “We had a good friendship, I thought, and it was a real shock.”
