Democrat accidentally ‘SHOOTS’ reporter with an AR-15 at campaign event
- A reporter at a campaign event at the shooting range was hit by shrapnel
- Sen. Josh Hawley’s Democratic rival held a remote campaign event
- The candidate helped provide first aid to the TV reporter’s bleeding arm
The Democratic candidate for Missouri was brutally mocked after hitting a television reporter with shrapnel from an AR-15 round during a campaign event on Tuesday.
Wannabe Senator Lucas Kunce fired the weapon during an appearance on a private property in Holt, Missouri, when a bullet fragment struck television reporter Ryan Gamboa in the arm.
The Democrat fired shots next to former Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger before bandaging the KSHB-TV journalist’s bloodied arm.
“Great day today at the range with my friend Adam Kinzinger,” Kunce wrote. “We had to deal with some union workers while we were exercising our freedom.”

Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) seized the opportunity to defeat his Democratic challenger for his Senate seat
“Always keep your first aid kit handy,” he continued in an X post.
“Shrapnel can always fly when you hit a target like today, and you have to be ready to go. We had four first aid kits, so we were able to deal with the situation, and I’m glad Ryan is doing well and was able to continue reporting.”
Senator Josh Hawley did not miss the opportunity to attack the man who tried to take his seat in the elections within a fortnight.
“When liberals play with guns, people get hurt,” he wrote on X, adding a clown emoji.
He wondered in another post Tuesday evening, “Will shot reporter Kunce press charges?”
Kunce was holding a campaign event Tuesday at a private home near Holt, north of Kansas City, Missouri, when a bullet fragment from an AR-15 shot ricocheted off a target and struck the local reporter’s arm.
Kunce, who spent 13 years in the Marines, wrapped gauze around Gamboa’s arm to stop the bleeding. Later, the wound was wrapped with medical tape.
After his arm was treated, Gamboa remained at the range to complete his assignment.
Hawley wondered whether local television reporter Ryan Gamboa would file charges against Kunce
There’s an image of the reporter holding up a microphone during a joint interview with Kunce and Kinzinger, the microphone-wielding, outstretched arm of his shirt stained with blood.
Kinzinger, an anti-Trump congressman from Illinois who now promotes Democrats, joined Kunce at his campaign event on Tuesday.
“I condemn all acts of violence against reporters and call on Kunce to never shoot anyone again,” Hawley wrote with laughing emojis.
Kunce will not have an easy time unseating Hawley, who is seeking a second term in the U.S. Senate.
An Emerson College/The Hill poll from September shows Hawley with 51 percent support to Kunce’s 40 percent.
