Gladiator II fans go wild over the sequel’s popcorn bucket with augmented reality: ‘Where do I buy it?!’

Following the trend from Dune: Part II and continuing with Deadpool & Wolverine, Gladiator II will feature an epic new popcorn bucket that will drive fans wild.

The Dune II popcorn bucket is fashioned after one of the giant sandworms from the movie… although it went viral because it looked like a sex toy.

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman continued the fun with their Deadpool & Wolverine popcorn bucket featuring Wolverine with his mouth wide open, which also drew sex toy comparisons.

This new Gladiator II bucket (via Fandango) won’t have any X-rated connotations, although it does feature some intriguing new technology.

After fans eat all the popcorn, they can use new augmented reality (AR) technology that reveals a Gladiator battle inside the actual bucket.

Fandango released the first two images of the bucket on X (formerly Twitter), revealing that the bucket is shaped like the Gladiator arena in the film.

“Enter the AR-ena popcorn bucket,” the image reads, referring to the AR technology used.

The second image offers a glimpse of what the AR fight in the popcorn bucket would look like, but their TikTok video offered a glimpse of the AR fight between two little fighters.

“Cut out the popcorn and unleash the battle within,” the announcer says, as they reveal what awaits at the bottom of the bucket: a QR code that fans can scan “to bring the coliseum to life.”

TMZ reports that the buckets will be available at Cinemark locations, although the Paramount Images YouTube says it will also be at “other participating theater locations,” though it doesn’t mention any specific theater chains.

Fans were quite stunned by the new popcorn bucket, although others thought it was a harbinger of doom for the film itself.
