Aussie parents spark ‘neglect’ debate over this seemingly innocent holiday act

An influencer family has sparked a heated debate over a seemingly innocent act the parents committed while on vacation.

Mummy blogger Sarah Kearns and her husband of 13 years, Brad, also known as DadMum online, embarked on the trip of a lifetime earlier this month, traveling child-free across the US.

But leaving their three sons at home wasn’t the reason the couple received criticism online: Sarah and Brad went to Disneyland without their children.

While documenting their vacation, the mom and dad visited Disneyland in California and called it the “best day ever.”

The pair took several photos at attractions and areas with different themes, including Radiator Springs from the Disney Pixar film Cars and Alien Pizza Planet from the Pixar animation Toy Story.

Several disgruntled fans took to the influencer watchdog account Influencer Updates AU, claiming the parents were ‘neglecting’ their children but not including them in their extravagant holiday.

“People who visit Disneyland without their children… and still cry about their neglected childhood?” Thoughts??’ one user requested the account.

Influencer Updates AU came to the Kearns’ defense, suggesting their children would reap the benefits of having influencer parents.

“I still don’t see how this is a form of neglect,” the report responded.

‘I guess their children aren’t missing much in life. Having influencer parents would provide them with many opportunities. They’ve probably already been to Disneyland.’

However, it was Sarah’s first trip to the US theme park as she wore a ‘First visit’ badge pinned to her black Aje Athletica top.

Sarah’s husband Brad went viral on Facebook in 2016 when he wrote a scathing post after a man judged his wife for being ‘just’ a stay-at-home parent.

‘We went to a wedding last week. We sat on a table that was half half. Half us and half them. It wasn’t that bad and we all got along. They started that awkward conversation we all have when we meet new adults,” he wrote at the time.

“So what do you do with yourself?”

“I don’t know why this damn conversation is happening. It’s almost a passive game of ‘who’s the richest’ or ‘guess my lifestyle?’

Brad said when he explained what he did for a living, no one “blinked,” but when a male guest started questioning his wife Sarah, it was a different story.

‘And then he looks at Sarah. She is very intelligent and has worked in the emergency services for over seven years,” Mr Kearns continued.

‘He says, “Oh, so you just stay home and take care of the kids?”

“I don’t know how this became a generalization, but it fucking stinks.”

Brad then urged his followers to stop judging and making assumptions about other parents.

Speaking to Ny Breaking Australia, Brad said he was surprised by the positive and overwhelming response from people on social media.

‘Sarah and I have been together for 18 years and married for 21 years. We have two sons, but we had three because our first son was stillborn. “I put a lot of emphasis on family and that’s why I left the military and started working at the front desk at Fitness First,” he said.
