Rival fans have begged Disney+ for a second series of the challenging show which ended on a cliffhanger after binge-watching all eight episodes in a matter of days – with a second series yet to be confirmed.
Set in 1986, the story follows the cutthroat world of television, including the tense rivalry between Rupert Campbell-Black (Alex Hassell) and Lord Tony Baddingham (David Tennant).
The final episode saw Doctor Who star David’s character struggle with Cameron Cook (Nafessa Williams) in dramatic scenes and get hit on the head, seemingly killed and giving rival Rupert the chance to blackmail.
X fans went into a frenzy: “I just finished Rivals… My mental state? Not okay. That ending is serious, WTF?!?! We need season 2, there’s a lot more story to be told: ‘How can we not have a confirmed second season of Rivals yet? You can’t have a season finale with that big cliffhanger and not renew it.”

He said: ‘I had to launch myself onto a bed at one point, in a moment of what was going to be a kind of erotic ecstasy, and timed it a bit wrong. I ended up smashing my knee against the bed frame.”
To which co-star Alex replied: ‘He’s doing his own stunt’, to which David joked: ‘It wasn’t my sexiest move’.
