Man United fan, 38, arrested after he ‘assaulted’ police officer in the stands during win over Brentford, knocking his hat off

A Manchester United fan has been arrested after a police officer knocked off his hat at the Stretford End.
The 38-year-old, who was sent off from Old Trafford, was held on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker during Saturday’s 2-1 win over Brentford.
He has since been released on bail and could be banned from football if found guilty.
Footage widely shared online shows a man in a white United away shirt appearing to be arguing with two police officers. He then tries to pull one out, causing his hat to fall off.
The man manages to break free from the officers, but is then grabbed to the ground by stewards and marched outside.

The 38-year-old (circled in cap and white top), who was sent off from Old Trafford, was held on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker during Saturday’s 2-1 win over Brentford.
A hat was then happily thrown around the stands by several supporters before being collected.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: ‘During the Manchester United Premier League match against Brentford at Old Trafford on Saturday, a 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.
“He has since been released on bail pending further investigation.”
