Teen is chased by police after traveling to Romania and stealing a car so he can find Dracula and be turned into a vampire

A teenager was chased by police after he traveled to Romania and stole a car so he could find Dracula and be turned into a vampire.

The 19-year-old from Switzerland traveled last week to the town of Fagaras in Transylvania, about 270 kilometers from the Hoia-Baciu forest where he would meet Dracula on Halloween, according to local media.

But the teenager ran out of money when he reached Fagaras, so on the morning of October 20 he broke into a car and drove off to his destination.

Police rushed after him after the car theft was reported by the owner and during the chase the Swiss hit five other cars and injured three people.

‘I wanted to go to the Hoia-Baciu Forest, looking for my great-great-grandfather, Count Dracula, Vlad Tepes. I hope he can turn me into a vampire. I’ve dreamed of this all my life and now I’m here,” the teenager reportedly told investigators.

He appeared to be dressed as vampire slayer and Dracula’s nemesis Van Helsing for his journey, including his signature hat and long coat.

A witness told local media that the teenager was weaving through traffic at high speed.

β€œHe punched my right door and threw me against the curb. My legs were shaking a bit, but I didn’t suffer anything,” the driver said.

The Swiss eventually abandoned the car and fled on foot, but was quickly arrested by police.

Dashcam footage shows the police chase, with several officers on foot and three police vehicles chasing the fleeing suspect at high speed.

A police spokeswoman said the 19-year-old refused to stop for police and instead sped away, before hitting one car at a roundabout and another four in a crash near a petrol station.

The three people injured in the collisions with the Swiss man – two women and a man – were taken to hospital for treatment.

Initial tests showed he was on drugs and he reportedly admitted to being under the influence in front of investigators.

He was taken to hospital for tests, which police hope will show whether there are psychoactive substances in his blood, the spokeswoman said.

According to local media, it also turned out that the teenager did not have a driver’s license.

He is currently being held for 24 hours while investigations into theft and several traffic violations, such as driving without a license and failing to stop at police signals, are ongoing.
