British woman who works at Disney World defends ‘dressing like a stripper’ to visit theme park on days off saying her skimpy clothes are due to heat

A British woman working at Disney World in Florida was accused of dressing like a ‘stripper’ after wearing skimpy shorts to work.

Jessie Lee, 21, from Louth in Lincolnshire, had spent the summer working at the Disney World Resorts in Florida as part of their cultural exchange programme.

But after sharing a video of her red Disney outfit on TikTok, Jessie says her outfit divided opinion, with some calling it ‘inappropriate’ while others said she was ‘giving dads something to look at’.

Jessie, a recent graduate, defended them as “very trendy” and says haters are simply “uneducated.”

Footage shows Jessie wearing a red crop top with a pair of gingham bloomers posing in various locations around the park.

The graduate of Bishop Grosseteste University in Lincoln said she dressed in her assigned Disney uniform during her shifts, but on her days off created her own themed outfits to wear at the theme parks.

While Jessie admits that the majority of users loved her ‘Snow White’ themed costume, others went as far as to make it look like she was dressed as a ‘stripper’.

Following the backlash, Jessie is now speaking out as she believes her ‘lightweight’ outfit was appropriate to wear and that ‘uneducated’ critics simply don’t know what people wear in theme parks.

She also pointed out that it was 90 degree heat and that she had seen others wearing similar clothes while working at Disney all summer.

Jessie said, “I was at Disney World all summer from June to August while I worked there.

‘I worked on Disney’s cultural exchange program and filmed vlogs every day.

‘I wore this outfit on my day off when we got free access to the park.

“Working there, I saw hundreds of people and what they were wearing in the parks every day, so I felt like I fit in well with what everyone was wearing.

‘I wore Disney Mickey ears and I wore them with every outfit. [With this outfit] I was wearing snow whites, so I wanted to build a red themed outfit around this.

‘I wore a red tight-fitting cropped top with a high neckline and a small pair of gingham bloomers.

“It was a very lightweight outfit, as it was in the high thirties most days.

‘I ordered these shorts because I saw other Disney influencers wearing them [in the park].

“Nobody said anything to me in the park that day. I went into the park in that outfit twice and went into several parks in it, and not a single staff member batted an eyelid.

‘I went into shops and attractions and no one said anything or thought anything decent about it.

“Since I got home from work at Disney, I have continued to post videos of my trip. This video [of me in the outfit] was just in my drafts folder.

‘Initially the reaction was that everyone liked the outfit, but then I got a few comments that my outfit was not appropriate. I was in disbelief.

“I would say these people are less informed about what people are wearing in the parks.

“I think most people who agree with me are people who may have been to Disney or may be younger and know that this outfit is not revealing.”

Cast members have the freedom to enforce the dress code and can refuse entry or remove guests wearing inappropriate attire.

Despite the criticism Jessie received over her Disney outfit, she says it hasn’t stopped her from posting her everyday outfits online.

Jessie said: ‘It was an outfit where it was a high neck cropped top, but crop tops are very fashionable these days and everyone is wearing them.

“It wasn’t like I was in a formal setting. I just had fun. No one even thinks twice about a crop top.

‘The shorts were short, but not revealing and as short as most people wear in the Florida heat. I only get positive reactions to my videos.

‘I like to share what I wear every day, so I was shocked [to receive these comments].

‘Someone just said I was acting like a stripper. Some people just like to be negative.

‘Many reactions are very positive. I had someone ask if my shorts were an adult diaper, which I thought was hilarious.

“I think that’s hilarious because I know where people are coming from, but these shorts were very fashionable this summer, so maybe they just didn’t get the vision.

‘To me this was a very trendy outfit, so this comment made me laugh.

“This hasn’t stopped me from posting online. I wondered if my outfits were inappropriate, but I now know the answer is no.

“If anything, I want to post more to show what people are wearing in the parks and that’s acceptable.

“Wear whatever you want at your discretion and you should feel comfortable, but you’re there to have fun.

“You’re going for a ride, so you have to be sensible, but that’s up to you.”

After she posted a video of herself wearing her “Snow White” themed outfit, the TikTok received more than 60,000 views and 1,200 likes.

While most comments about Jessie’s clothing were positive, some users felt that her dress sense was not acceptable to wear at Disney.

One user said: ‘Inappropriate for Disney.’

Another added: ‘Literally nothing wrong with this outfit, it’s cute. I’m a cast member and I’ve seen much more revealing [outfits] than this.’

A third commented: ‘That was inappropriate. You went to a family park with kids and acted like a stripper in that video.”

A fourth said: ‘Stunning outfit. Beautiful fit.’

A fifth said: ‘Is that a nappy?’

Another said: ‘Not inappropriate, gives dads something to look at.’
