In an interview earlier this month, Rosie revealed how she was once sent home after a photo shoot for being ‘too curvy’.

Reflecting on the early days of her modeling career, the Plymouth-born star told how, during a period of endless castings, she was once turned away from a photo shoot because she wasn’t the right size.

“I’m lucky to have seen the full breadth of the industry because when I started, I was on the tube, with my portfolio and heels in my bag, doing castings with 200 girls,” she explained to the digital NET-A-PORTER channel. title PORTER.

‘[I was] getting out somewhere in the middle of the night, getting into cars with strange drivers, being sent home after a shoot because I looked too healthy or was too curvy,” she said.

At the height of her career, Rosie had a contract with Victoria’s Secret, the lingerie brand, which she left so she could launch her M&S line.

She feared being left out, but luckily for her the decision only boosted her career.

She said: ‘I realized that at any moment they could say, ‘Rosie’s gone.’ I’d seen that with so many girls – they’d literally worked with them for fifteen years and one day it was, “She’s too old and she’s putting on some weight.” That’s the way this industry works. I thought: that’s not going to happen to me.’

After raising “a lot of eyebrows” thanks to her decision to partner with the retailer, the partnership is still going strong thirteen years later. It is said that one in fifty British women own a bra from her range.

She said: ‘Success is so easy when something works quickly. But if you’ve experienced some kind of setback, or you’ve had challenging moments, and the rug has been pulled from under your feet – both professionally and personally – [that’s] where you go to the true depths of yourself. Right now it feels terrible.”

Rosie added that you gain “more perspective” as time goes on, noting that one needs to understand a “side of yourself” that is “resilient.”
