Queensland Prime Minister Steven Miles has proven he is Australia’s strongest politician with an impressive bench press in the gym.

The 46-year-old Mr Miles posted a video of his strength training on social media on Sunday afternoon.

He captioned the video: ‘By popular demand: 100kg bench press challenge with Jon Wyeth and the Wolf of Brisbane. Thanks for spotting, guys.”

Mr Miles says in the video that his heaviest bench weight up until this effort was 85kg, and then moves up to a 100kg bench press.

‘Damn! That’s heavier than I can bench press!’ one follower posted in disbelief.

“That’s a prime minister,” another commented.

‘Big scum!! Respect,” a third replied.

In March, Mr Miles divided Aussies after showing off his muscular physique while volunteering at a school worker bee.

Mr Miles was caught carrying a rubbish bin at Dakabin State School in his electorate of Murrumba, north of Brisbane.

Although usually hidden under a suit during press conferences, his ripped physique was on full display as his biceps bulged out of his T-shirt.

Mr Miles, who wore a Brisbane Broncos hat and shorts, appeared cheerful as he smiled from ear to ear as he carried around a bin.

The professional photo was uploaded to his Facebook page on Sunday.

“P&C worked at Dakabin State School this morning,” the caption read. ‘PS Go Broncs.’

Some social media users were jealous of his apparent ‘thirst trap photo’ – while others accused him of turning an act of goodwill into a PR opportunity.
