Jets ‘approached over Garrett Wilson trade by multiple NFL teams’ after Davante Adams arrival

In the wake of a huge trade that netted them a bona fide No. 1 wide receiver, the New York Jets have received offers for their other top pass-catching talent.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefterthe Jets have received offers from a group of unnamed NFL teams interested in Jets receiver Garrett Wilson.

This comes in the wake of the trade between the Jets and the Las Vegas Raiders for receiver Davante Adams.

According to Schefter, the Jets “have heard from other teams, but have no plans to trade Wilson.”

While Wilson is off the table, the Jets are believed to be listening to offers for receiver Mike Williams.

Adams will team with his former quarterback in Green Bay – Aaron Rodgers – who now has another bona fide No. 1 wide receiver in his stable.

The acquisition will see Adams running a potent passing attack alongside Wilson – seen as a budding star – and Allen Lazard.

It could mean that Williams – who spent his first seven seasons in the league with the Los Angeles Chargers before joining the Jets – is on the decline.

Williams appeared to make a crucial mistake in the final seconds of Monday night’s game against the Bills – when he ran the wrong route and slipped, leading to a costly interception that sealed a victory for Buffalo.

On an episode of The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers highlighted Williams’ mistake as one of the reasons the Jets lost.

“I think if you look at my press conferences, I start with myself when I make mistakes. “I have to play better. I can’t make that throw. I can’t make that decision.” That’s the standard for everyone,” the veteran said when asked about the play.

“There were a lot of mistakes made all night, but if you just look at that play – and that was the question – well, it was two vertical lines to the right side and Mike had to get right to the red line, what would happen would be been a big win.

“So I didn’t call Mike out for anything other than his responsibility and details on that play. I have a lot of love and respect for Mike. He wasn’t in the right place on that play. We should all be held to a standard.

“I hold myself to a standard of greatness and when it hasn’t been there, which at times it hasn’t, I’ve stayed there and said I need to play better. Hopefully that is an example for everyone.’

The Jets are currently 2-4 on the season and have the league’s 16th best passing attack.

They hope to bounce back from the loss and get back into the playoff race on Sunday Night Football when they hit the road to play the Pittsburgh Steelers.
