Is YOUR blinking pattern normal? Take the test to see how your rate compares – and the dark traits it could show
It’s something we do all day long without even thinking about it.
But have you ever thought about how your blinking pattern compares to that of your peers?
A new test from Vision Direct shows exactly how many times you blink per minute – and how this compares to the rest of the country.
Besides being a bit of fun, experts say the test can actually reveal your deepest thoughts and feelings.
“You may think your eye movements are insignificant, but in an instant you can reveal your deepest thoughts and feelings — like when you crave your date’s pants or when you tell a lie about eating your roommate’s leftovers the other day.” night,” Vision Direct said.

To play the game, visit this link and click the red button that says ‘Take me to the test.’
Tap ‘Start’ and the one-minute countdown will begin.
Tap or click the button each time you blink during the countdown and the game will add up your total.
At the end of the minute you will be told how many times you have blinked and where you are on the scale from ‘Eyes Wide Open’ to ‘Super Speedy Blinker’.
If you’re more on the ‘Eyes Wide Open’ end of the scale, research suggests you may be a good liar.

Traci Brown, a body language expert who worked with Vision Direct on the test, explained: ‘To tell if someone is lying, pay attention to how the person blinks when they have nothing to lie to.
‘If there is cheating, you may notice that this changes quickly.
‘Normally, if their blinking changes, it will slow down during the lie and then increase dramatically right after the lie is told.
‘However, it is important to note that blinking is only one piece of the puzzle.
‘It is vital to pay attention to other factors in their body language and tone of voice to help detect deception.’
Meanwhile, if you’re more of a Super Speedy Blinker, you might be in love.
Previous research has shown that blink rate is an important indicator of mental arousal.
“If your date flutters their eyes at you, it could indicate that they are quite nervous but excited to be on the date with you,” Vision Direct explains.
‘This is especially true if it is accompanied by other classic nervous behavior such as sweating, fidgeting or tapping.’
Based on the findings, you may be tempted to adjust your blink rate to hide the fact that you’re lying or to seduce your lover.
However, Ms Brown warns that manipulating your natural blinking pattern can make you appear unreliable.
“People who try to manipulate their body language to look a certain way almost always fail,” she said.
‘This is because we are largely unaware of our blinking in everyday situations and our attempts to change it, which can ultimately backfire by making the manipulator appear incongruent in his communication.’
